I too am having this issue... WLID support referred me to XBL support, who referred me back to WLID support. Pretty much they told me my account is corrupted and there is nothing they can do about it. I was about to buy a Zune Pass ($15 a month), give them money... but appearantly they don't want my business.

However, I don't have an XBOX anymore, so I haven't logged into it in a long time. It also appears that my Windows Live ID doesn't exist anymore; I guess it has been deleted for inactivity. I can recreate my Live ID if I wanted to, but I can NOT set my GamerTag to my old GamerTag as it is currently in use... by my old, deleted Live ID. This means there is no way for me to recover my old GamerTag, or any of the assets that are linked to it. I wanted to use my old GamerTag with my Zune.
Is there ANY way I can get my old GamerTag? I don't even care if Microsoft has to DELETE my old GamerTag; I'm okay with losing all the assets on it... I just want the NAME. Deleting my old GamerTag would let me recreate it. -
