Thanks. Good to know. Would still be nice to be able to save rotation set by owner in case the server-side fix isn't 100% accurate. – maczter, on August 15, 2008 20:52

Beautiful. Much appreciated. Since none of us stated the obvious...can we look the gift horse in the mouth now and ask that if the owner of a given image rotates that image via the new rotate controls, that the image (and thumbnail on our home page) be saved in the new orientation so that when others view our images they will already be rotated properly? – maczter, on August 15, 2008 16:40

We've added a "rotate" photo option to twitpic.com. This will compliment our server-side auto-rotate solution once it goes live. Hopefully this works great for everyone. I've tested it on IE 7 / Firefox 3 / Safari 3.
Thanks for being patient everyone, I know this request wasn't fixed as fast as it should have been. I'm hoping to be able to devote the majority of my attention to twitpic soon.

Jaxon Brooks replied on August 14, 2008 15:54 to the problem "sudden point loss" in MilkandCookies Network:
Points are dynamic. Everything that effects user points happens almost immediately -- though due to caching there can sometimes be a short delay in these values appearing on pages.
Many actions effect points, such as link submissions, voting on links, having your links voted on, and the state of each link (unmoderated, permanent, headlined, removed).
Most actions increase points. Others -- like links being removed, low votes, and lowered link states -- can lower points.

I agree with you about bigboys.com -> break.com. We aren't afraid to show nudity or people getting hurt, but not just for the sake of it. There has to be *something* deeper going on or the link gets removed. – Jaxon Brooks, on August 11, 2008 18:20

And thank you for returning, Todd.
Just a quick note here -- Not to brag or anything like that, but I've submitted over 500 links to M&Cs. Only one of them (that I know of) is in favor of religion. The title of this video is 'Tim Keller: The Reason for God.' I submitted it because yes I'm interested to know what moves people to embrace religion (God) and if anyone is able to coherently and intelligently present his or her views on that matter, I'm not averse to sharing the video. But, if truth be told, what makes people believe in God is often personal and not up for grabs on YouTube (or other video sites). Also, these views seldom make me go ahead and submit them to M&Cs; I've got high standards. I mean, a video should impress me if I'm willing to submit it (though I sometimes submit 'lighter' material). Frankly, I rarely see outstanding (in an intelligent way) videos promoting religion. Naturally, you should also take into account my opinions on religion.
As for pro-Republican stuff, I've done my best trying to make people more aware of Ron Paul, whose views (though not all) and character I highly respect.
Well, I could go on and on, but let me end by saying best wishes,

thanks jaxon. i guess i know where you were coming from now. i didn't even know there was such a thing as form letter emails which have complaints as opposed to selling penis enlargement pills, etc. truly, i have been viewing the site for years. my buddy showed me a video a couple of years ago of some kid dancing at kollaberation (sp?) and i've been a fan ever since.
i'm an attorney and this site provides a much needed break. i used to get on bigboys.com (nka break.com) but it started getting too sexually graphic (in my opinion of course!). i like your site because you guys have filtered out most of the garbage and most of the videos are pretty amusing and/or informative. a site like youtube is good if i am looking for something specific but (i think) too big just to browse.
and you're right, i could have probably phrased the subject line in a more neutral manner and not so accusatory.

Todd, I can't tell you how many form-letter emails I have received mirroring your original comments. But I will assume, since I have no way of verifying, that you are someone who actually is a long standing member of the MilkandCookies community, someone who actually feels invested in the well being of the site, and thus not yet another spammer.
MilkandCookies formed organically as a community and is always changing. I personally enjoy the diversity of the community, and even some of the controversy that comes with it. I especially appreciate links that expose parts of the world that are otherwise esoteric. But basically my hope is that people come to the site and get a chuckle and are maybe get exposed to something that they didn't see before (and would it hurt to maybe vote, or take a moment to share a link or two?). It would be audacious to expect it to accomplish much more than that.
Though I suppose users have started friendships via the site. Could a MilkandCookies marriage be in the cards?
As a side note: comments are always appreciated, but I would have preferred that this particular thread was titled something like Does MilkandCookies Have a Bias? instead of Anti-Christian and Anti-Republican Website. An analog would be Does Todd Enjoy MilkandCookies? instead of Christian Evangelizing Republican Pusher. Not to get too much into semantics. ;)
My MilkandCookies user name is Jaxon, what is yours?

thanks for your reply white wolf. i agree that the expression of ideas allow for civil debate. however, if only one side of an issue is heard, there is no meaningful debate. it seems as if all of the videos on christianity and repulicans (not related concepts) are negative. but, i will take you at your word that you consider the submission of pro-christian or pro-republican videos. i just seems like none of your viewers post same.
you're a private website and i understand and respect the fact that you can post whatever videos you want. though, i think it was a fair observation that there have more more anti-christian/anti-repulican videos lately. i think that jaxon side steps actually addressing my issue and completely mischaracterizes my question as a "straw man" argument.
i do enjoy the website and am certainly open to opposing ideas. i think when people view bill o'reilly or keith olbermann for instance, they should know what to expect and understand what their agenda is. i was simply wondering if m&c had an agenda or if it impartially posts videos regardless of their political or theological views.
i've never posted a comment before and i do appreciate your response. i did find it amusing though that people like parker are able to discern my heart from a simple question and tell that i am a false christian and/or a pharisee. that was amazing!
Parker replied on August 11, 2008 14:42 to the discussion "Anti christian and anti republican website" in MilkandCookies Network:
Many Americans have very strong opinions about Corporate Christians (aka Pharisees) and Republicans - not merely at Milk & Cookies but across all forms of media. This isn't a surprise given the documented damage to our country both have done over the past 7 years.
In fact, Bible-reading Christians do not support any marriage between the GOP and the Holy God. This notion is seen as a perverse abomination to His Word.
Except to false Christians.
And so given that Todd links Christianity with Republicanism in the same sentence, he's very likely one of these Pharisees with a clear agenda who would limit free speech in support of Corporate masters.
Todd's argument includes what is called a "hasty generalization."
Since some people on the public message boards at Milk & Cookies don't agree with Todd, then the entire Website must have an "agenda" against Todd.
I know, I know... Folks who use this argument appear to be paranoid and crazy. But Todd isn't paranoid. Todd isn't crazy. He's just using an inferior technique of argument.
His argument is as fallacious as if I were to assume that getsatisfaction.com has a Corporate GOP Christian "agenda" in line with Todd's because that's where I'm reading it.
So yes, Todd. There's an agenda. Not from a free, public message board that supports free speech and all that is American. But from individuals. Individuals who focus the light on those who would do evil in the name of God.
And they who would cling to their golden idols? They shall continue to scrape and cringe in the shadows...
But now I'm going back to Milk & Cookies to watch videos from basic cable about farting. Because that makes me laugh.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

MilkandCookies has banned links which are supportive of the Republican party in the past, but not because they are Republican sympathizers, it's been due to popups. MilkandCookies.com has a strict no popups policy. The complete Submission Guidelines are on the Submit page. http://www.milkandcookies.com/submit/ – Jaxon Brooks, on August 10, 2008 20:25

This is known as a Straw Man argument.
The blogosphere starts to see these kinds of informal rhetorical attacks every four years, just before Presidential elections.
Then, as mysteriously as they appeared -- come election day -- they vanish, never to bee seen again... until the next major election.
There has never been an exception, and we don't expect there ever will be. In fact, if they didn't, politics would just seem empty.
