jay started following the idea "I would love to see video capture - just like the Windows Version." in Snagit for Mac Beta.
jay replied on December 21, 2009 03:56 to the question "Where's the video capture?" in Snagit for Mac Beta:
Video capture, by only putting a marquee around a small area of the screen, is incredibly powerful for illustrating things. There is not a screencapture program for mac that allows me to capture anything but the fullscreen, which I then have to crop down and recompress later. sucks.
Otherwise, why aren't you just using Cmd-Shift-4? Who needs Snagit for stills?
Camtasia (which I own) is way overkill for this simple task. Also, it's harder to select a marquee in Camtasia than it is in Snagit.

Thanks Peldi - there is a workaround where I navigate to the folder and type the first letter of the old filename: this prompts a select list which I can use to select a filename, and then subsequently edit it. Not as great as the everyday "Save As" functionality, but it's still easier than typing in a long filename. My mockups filenames always get quite long because I am using naming conventions to notate the state represented by the mockup: File_Save_Selected_None_Error.bmml etc!
