Compression Solutions for 4.8.3I am using Power PC Macs with Final Cut 5 to create ALL of my media that goes onto my Tightrope Server. Currently we use a software called Visual Hub (http://www.techspansion.com) to do the compression. It works fairly well, but the really heavy sports seems to jitter.
We would be willing to buy compression software if there is something recommended - but what is the ideal way to compress the files into the ideal MPEG2 format for my legacy Cablecast?

Just upgraded Carousel....seems to be quitting? Why?Recently upgraded our Carousel server to the latest version from 4.3. The system seems to quit and we are left with the desktop of the Windows machine it is running with. I am not able to sit in front of the machine to watch the timing but its to happen after an hour.

Tightrope video server: How to config external drive as source for videos to be aired. Our internal drive is almost full. We want to add an external drive as the 2nd storage, but don't know where to configure the ext. drive so that Cablecast will recognize it and will get the videos to be aired from there.

Chad,
Thank you for your help -- i feel like I am getting somewhere. Here is where I am at.
1) I can get to "Front Door" on my machine but I cannot get to Google or anywhere else outside.
2) When I went into Control Module Hosts I found this error message next to my Video Server 'A connection attempt failed because the connected third party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connection host has failed to respond."
3) I did check the IPCONFIG and the ip address does match the Host address in the Control Module Hosts

Chad,
Thank you for these suggestions.
1) Video Server is still powered up - yes
2) Ensure network connection is healthy - How do I do that?
3) Ensure IP address of video server hasn't changed - How would I know?
4) Cablecast Device Control running - yes. I stopped and restarted a few times.
Thanks.

Timeout Expired - Do I just need to upgrade or what?!Just yesterday I tried to send autopilot and I get this message - "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding." What could this be, I cannot send any new commands to autopilot.

How do I migrate my Cablecast/Carousel to another ISP?I am currently on a network at my high school under which the Cablecast/Carousel were set up. Now, I am interested in having our own Internet separate from the school. How will this affect my Cablecast/Carousel? The ISP is asking me if I want static or dynamic IP addresses and how many static do we want? I am not sure how to answer so I thought I would ask here.
JDaniels replied on October 15, 2008 20:36 to the problem "runtime error - files not playing out" in Tightrope Media Systems:
John,
I tried to recreate the message on the local machine - the videoserver box and the same message - generic runtime problem.
I called support and talked to a nice guy - we tried to log into my Tightrope support icon but the external IP address is not found. We are located on our school's network - and the IT guy left two weeks ago without a replacement.
I'm not sure what to do at all.
Please help, I can't add new shows or send the autopilot commands.
Jason

JOHN - we are having continued problems adding data to new shows created with cablecast. Here is the pasted error text:
