This is an interesting idea and tangential to something we're working on.
the only issue with creating a 3rd synth in this case is ownership - does it then becomea wikipedia model with shared ownership and responsibility?

can you add the link to the synth you feel shows the images drastically below their uploaded resolution? I'd like to take a look.

We've experienced a hardware problem with one of our origin servers that is affecting the availability of some synths (and their thumbnails). We're working the issue currently.

If you're signed in on the website, click your profile name in the upper right hand corner. That will take you to your synth page.
The synths listed there will have the delete x.

The easiest way on Windows Vista is to right click the image - you'll see a detail tab. In there is the author field you can edit. If you're using XP, you'll need to use Windows Live Photo Gallery for this.

If you edit the author field in the metadata you can add your name/text that will show while viewing the synth.

We just released a fix that addresses the blank photos/white box in 2D issue. . Existing users won't be prompted to upgrade, but you can install the upgrade here if you're affected.

We've already made a change to show synthiness when the compute is done (we don't have separate progress bars, though).

These are all great ideas. With the feature we have to hold the control key down and move the model around, we plan on giving you a 'halo' to grab even if there isn't one there. That would allow your request of being able to grab and move the model from any location.

Path fitting (as you may have seen in Noah's latest Siggraph presentation) is also on our list of to dos. We hope to release something by end of year with it.
