I have the same issue but with elements "hanging out of" another panel... specifically when I've got menus or comboboxs in a component being imported.
As it is, I take my exported PNGs in such cases and open them in Photoshop/Pixelmator and crop out the areas I want transparent before importing them into other mockups. Not ideal, but it works.
As a suggestion, could there be an export dialog where you could set the export type and have a checkbox for transparency?-

SHIFT-key appears to be "stuck" when moving selected objects.When I use the SHIFT-key to select multiple objects and then take my finger off the SHIFT-key I find that using the keyboard arrows to move the selected objects appears to be stuck in "SHIFT" mode (that is, the objects move 10-pixels at a arrow click instead of just 1-pixel).
If I then use the mouse to just move the selected objects a small amount, it appears to release the "phantom" SHIFT-key modifier and I can then use the arrow keys normally again.
I'm on Mac OS X 10.5.6 using the most recent release of the desktop Balsamiq. -

Icons on the Tab Panel's Tabs
Add icons on tabs via the inspector panel similar to the way you can select links. Also setting whether the icon is positioned before or after the text on the tab. See attached image for details of the property inspector could look for this type of feature.
