Hi Tracey,
I'm still not sure that I understand the difference between RTM and Sandy. I mean they still sound like they're both addressing the same fundamental problem (personal productivity) but in slightly different ways. Using both of them still seems like a lot of overlap to me--or am I missing something?

Yes, I've got both the GCal gadget and the RTM, and both feed into Gmail so I can see everything on one page. It's just that Sandy only feeds into GCal. But I have it set up so that anything coming in to my Gmail account from Sandy automatically gets tagged TODO via the Gmail filters, and then I have the RTM gadget for Gmail set so that if it sees something tagged TODO the gadget adds it to RTM--and it's there no matter if it's on the GMail page, or in RTM itself.

I would think that Sandy and RTM are both basically doing the same job (albeit in different ways). At least that's been my impression of the situation. I tried RTM and would have liked to use it but for the life of me I couldn't get it to send SMS reminders and that was a deal breaker. Sandy, on the other hand, worked right from the start with SMS reminders.
I'm not quite sure what you're discussing with the Google Calendar because Sandy can send a feed to GCal. But I expect RTM has more than just a feed; from your remarks, I'd gather that it's probably much closer to true 2 way integration.

If you use gmail, you can get the RTM add-on. Then set the filters on your email to automatically tag Sandy's emails with "todo".
The RTM gadget will then automatically pick up the todos and add them to itself, plus they'll be in Sandy for your daily digest.
Not the simplest solution, but it works for me for now.

Elizabeth,
There are at least 2 different types of feeds, the Calendar Feed and the Daily Digest Feed (i.e. the Google Calendar Gadget). (see http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...)
The "Daily Digest" feature (the Sandy icon) is available for every day. Some people have complained that the icon appears on every day, even on those days where there is nothing scheduled. However, these people didn't understand that the Google Calendar Gadget has a different purpose and is not a regular calendar feed. Instead it implements the Daily Digest feature.
I know that there is a delay in the Calendar Feed. Google updates the calendar feed about every 3 hours, (or longer). There have been many discussions about Google Calendar not updating feeds promptly and people unsubscribing and resubscribing the get it to update. Look at some of the links on the right or do a search. (Other links: http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy... and http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy... and http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...) I'm not sure now often the "Daily Digest" feature is updated.

Am I the only one still having issues? When I set it up as a calendar feed, it's not updating. i.e. the events I had when I set up the feed are there, but that's it. If i set it up with the thing from the sandbox, it puts the face on EVERY day and doesn't integrate the information in anyway. It just puts the two seperate bits of information within the same browser window.
Am I just totally missing something??

I've been using Sandy for a couple of months now and I love it. But this topic has just exposed me to RTM. One HUGE difference I see is the ability for RTM to work with google calendar, of which I'm already a big time user.
Unless Sandy starts looking at my gcalendar, I maaaaaaaay just have to fire her and start using RTM. C'mon Sandy, get it done!

I LOVE Firefox! This system works great.(got the ideas from Lifehacker.com) you should also look at the functionality of GTDinbox for gMail/Firefox. – Jeff, on June 10, 2008 17:59

I haven't seen how I can add Sandy to my gmail page like this... http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/gmail/ I call Jott, who transcribes to RTM, Sandy, gMail... the RTM is integrated in the gMail page and I can set the Filters in GTD to automatically label them and set them into my Airset calendar. I can star something in gmail and have it added to RTM's todo list on the right of the page – Jeff, on June 09, 2008 23:50

I have RTM set up to have my todo list integrated right into my gmail page(as well as GTDinbox). Gmail is the cornerstone and I have Jott tied in too. All of these work well together and there are a few Sandy elements I'd like to add. It seems that getting Sandy to work with RTM would be the simplest option. Thanks – Jeff, on June 09, 2008 18:10
