yeah the laptop insert is sewn on both the laptop messenger and classic messenger...not removable.
but if you prefer removable, you can get a separate laptop sleeve :

Is the additional Laptop Insert in Classic Messenger removable?When customizing a classic messenger bag, I noticed that you can add a laptop insert. Is this insert completely removable or not? I noticed that if you order a laptop messenger the insert is sewn in on one side. Is this the same for the classic?
