Bibilass, i agree Dell quality has down the drain. My 1501 inspiron had three hard drives and two motherboards replaced, I bought it tow years ago. Another thing I notice the parts on the laptop (mine had it) Are not Dell parts. I agree no more dell after three its enough. Poor technical support, non USA base reps hard to understand, replacing parts with non Dell Refurbished parts. I'm taking pictures of the parts thier replacing, or send me. I have 600 days on warranty. Fight Dell people.

Why all this Dell guys here.Any idea why there's all this dell employees and not helping anybody? Maybe, this is the way they fill their FAQ board with. Or maybe, they send them to train to be a better tech, so they can help the big corporations, cause they ain't helping regular customers. LOL

Insert your vista dvd, the first window I think you have restore in a dos window, it shows you a comand you can type, that will take you to a restore point, there an option that said show all restore points enable it. Select restore point you want. either you a succesfull message and will ask to to reboot your computer, or will fail.

randi, pull the hard drive out and connected to a hard drive enclosure and with a usb cable you can pull your pictures out of the hard drive.

is the laptop under warranty? yes call Dell, don't chat. I had the same problem I found one on Ebay and was working fine, I will still get the message during boot up about the ac dapter blah blah, Dell is in the business to rip us off. Ebay find it on ebay, if doesn't solve your problem the motherboard will have to be replaced. If you're handy, buy some O rings the fit the plug on the ac adaptor and you can try that so it can charge your laptop. Do so at your own risk, trying suggestion for you. Good luck.

Inspiron 1501 Operating System not found.Inspiron 1501- 1 GB ram-Hitachi 80 GB HD
I keep getting " Operating System not found" Bios shows the hard drive and Windows XP and Vista they both show the partition with the OS installed. Chat with one rep quickly point it it was a Microsoft issue, keep telling him in Windows Vista allowed me to restore and told me it was succesfull but keep getting OS not found. Quickly he paste it the steps to reinstall the OS and disconnected. Second chat, this guy was dicent and afirmly said we had to replace the hard drive, sounds good, preloaded Ok, sold. Got the hard drive today and install it, turn the system on, same, OS not found. Pop the XP installation cd sure enough OS was preloaded like he said, but didn't fix my problem. Today, I call tech support, sure enough couldn't understand the guy. I calm my self down and follow his instruction I've been a tech for twenty years I know the routine, so I comply and here's the catch when they can't solve an issue Dell techs are well known for doing " Please lets reinstall the operating system." They know it will take a while and that's way to get off the phone. He said he'll call me, will see. One thing I notice the hard drive they sent me had the label "REFURBISHED" in bold letters. So we pay for the laptop brandnew Dell slowly is turning it into a refurbished piece of junk. The motherboard was replaced by dell and now the hard drive. For this problem I formated the hard drive ten time on the old one, the new one I got today formated twice already and the I'm still without a laptop. Great, I guess Dell expects me to sit here and wait for them. I will keep post it, thanks for letting me vent.

I went through this, Dell changed the motherboard and power adapter, it last it a couple of month's. IT'S BACK!! last couple days the battery stop charging and getting the power adapter message during bios start up. This is just plain ridicoulos, filing a complaint with BBB and my state. See where I get taken the route, is time to stop playing nice.

I had my inspiron 1501 motherboard replaced and a new Dell power adapter to go with the new motherboard. they did this two month's ago is happening again, but now is worse, the laptop won't even power up with the ac power adapter. Dell sucks, never again will buy a Dell, I will be talking to state attorney and see what can be done.
