A comment on the idea "Amtrak and Arizona Corridor Trains" in Amtrak:
I argee Mavi. Phoenix is a beautiful wonderful Place to visit. And Amtrak needs to return train service back to Phoenix.
I haven't been back to Phoenix in a long time. Because of the lack of direct train service. I have had the SW Chief to Flagstaff and transfer to a Bus. And I didn't like the bus option too much. Just waiting for the Bus is really for the birds. – Jerry, on July 28, 2009 21:15-

Bring back the Desert Wind, Las Vegas Ltd & Spirit of California. The two Trains I like see returned in near future if all possible.
The Desert Wind was one fine Train. Was the second Amtrak Train To run to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. And lasted the longest in Amtrak's History. This was one train that never should had been cancelled. I really enjoyed riding this one Amtrak Train. And I do miss seeing the Cajon Pass in the Daylight Hours. When it had Snow on some parts. And was interesting to see Las Vegas when arriving into the City with some or little daylight left. I really hope if anything. They can return just the Los Angeles LV-SLC portion. That would give Amtrak more Ridership on the longer Distance Trains. I never had the chance to ride Amtrak's Las Vegas Limited Train. This train was a very very short lived Train. Only lasted a couple of months. But I think If Amtrak kept this Train with the Desert Wind. There will be more additional Service between Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City.
Spirit of California was a good Train. That got cut as it was getting popular. If they never got rid of this Train. I think we would have a couple of over night Trains between LA and Sacramento. And this train is greatly needed now. We would also would of had a couple of Coast Daylight Trains running between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Because. There would be a great demand for both day and night time service.
If these Trains was still running today. These trains would have many passengers connection from other Amtrak Trains in Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Sacramento and San Jose. And the connections alone would give more ridership to the other connecting trains and thruway Buses.

Amtrak and Arizona Corridor TrainsThe one State I think Amtrak would do great in. Should be Arizona. There are a many things to see and do. I came of several routes. I think would quite a bit of ridership. If done right. Phoenix is one of the top three fastest growing regions in the US. So I think it be would be a natural fit to Additional Amtrak Trains in Arizona.
My Ideas would be
A: PHX-TUC
B: PHX-YUM [with some thru to L A. Thru Trains to LA. will connect with the Pacific Surfliners, The San Joaquin Thruways and the Coast Starlight]
C: PHX-FLG-Williams Jct. ]with connections to the Grand Canyon RR.
and connections to the SW Chief.]
D: PHX-LAX via Parker. [With thruway Service to LHC]
E: LAX-FLG Only Trains [with Thruway Bus Service to Laughlin. Trains would provide daylight service bewteen Los Angeles And Flagstaff]
F: DEN-ABQ-FLG-PHX Trains with Connections to the California Zephyr at DEN,
and lastly. I would return the Sunset Limited/Texas Eagle to PHX as well. has been too long since PHX last direct Train Service.

A comment on the idea "Bring Back The Observation Car" in Amtrak:
Not only a favorite. But was one of the cars. That sold tickets on each train the Car was on. Via Rail still has Observations on their trains. Although the Cars are very old. They still make train travel worth wild. – Jerry, on May 14, 2009 17:43

Bring Back The Observation CarAmtrak needs to look at. Bringing the Observation Car to all of the Long Distance Trains. This was one great Car. That was at the Back of evey Passenger since the start of the Railroad. If they had Colorado Rail Car Ultra Dome Car. As a Observation Car. And put it on the Back of the Coast Starlight, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle, California Zephyr, Empire Builder and the City of New Orleans. They would attact new riders. And get former riders back to the Long Distance Trains again.
