I agree with JenniAndBoys -- in my view, these are no different than other markets that "last a season" ... even in other categories, such as "Who will be President of the US?" -- that was created way before the first primary, and continues, today,"in-play".
In my view these questions only need to be edited to remove the words "in play", and they will be fine.

Ummm. Maybe I just thought about it 'too much'.
It seems like the wagering can continue allthough the 'event' has started, so to speak. So, it has the 'feel' of an in-play market.
But, as jenniandboys said, these markets also 'feel' like those that address 'seasons' as opposed to individual games.
Again, I'm not opposed to having these markets voided, for any reason.
I'd just like some clear guidance before I re-create them, if neccessary. – Jerry's Just Trolling, on June 22, 2008 21:02

Umm. I don't really see why we would label these markets 'in play'. I thought in play was reserved for games and events... this is an entire season, right? We have lots of questions that cover the events of a season: F1 drivers championship, American Idol winner, NCAA champion, etc that haven't had any extra 'in-play' handling.
Seperate from any discussion of in-play guidelines (which are good discussions to have) I don't see why these questions are labeled in-play. Am I missing something??

First I think these are great markets. Second I hope that Donal will approve them. I suspended them until Donal can approve. The labeling of them IN PLAY was the only point where I didn't want Hubdub users to get confused. I have asked that Donal approve all these markets for the IN Play status. He is currently on vacation and Brian who is filling in will run these by him in the following days. I am sure once he gets back he will address the IN play markets. I know in another thread he mentioned some basics, hopefully we can now get further details.-

I whole-heartedly agree!
However, I've asked for guidance, and I get nothing. Since the NBA in-plays were allowed to continue, I figured a decision regarding those types of markets had been made. I also assumed, that being the category editor for sports, donal would have a chance to approve or disapprove (void) any questions that did not fit with hubdub's philosophy. If he approved, then he will create the appropriate 'in-play' tagged image, I hope.
Please guide me to the instructions for setting up 'in-play' suspension dates. I will follow them to the letter.
However, I did clearly note in the market background when the question 'should be' suspended, in accordance with this user's intent.
If any of these questions need to be voided, so be it. Just make sure they are all voided. Thank you.
valornhonor replied on June 08, 2008 11:20 to the problem "Delta and NWA merger settlement" in Hubdub:
Hello HD...
I have no wagers on this market.
But I do have 20+ years experience in the airline industry and have been involved, personally and professhionally in multiple airline mergers, acquisitions, marketing linkages and dissolutions of ties between airlines, these are my points of reference.
Although I infer that the original author was speculating between a couple of potential merger partners for Delta; Northwest and United Airlines... the exact wording of the short question has lent itself to a variety of considerations. My personal opinion is that to settle for a yes there will need to be a suspension of stock trading by either Delta or Northwest Airlines stock prior to 12:01am on July 1st. United+Delta will not happen during the month of June.
Although many airline mergers are imagined, some are announced, less actually occur; various work groups and Congressional oversight have the ability, and history has proven, to disrupt this process.
Perhaps a better, more precise way to create these kinds of questions would be to say something like: "Announcement from boards of airlines X & Y w/ intent 2 merge within a 24 hours period by 7/1/08?" or "Will stocks of airline X or Y no longer be sold due to merger by 7/1/08?".
Those are my thoughts.
