A comment on the idea "Growl integration" in atebits:
I suppose the theory might be that "New Tweet" would help to differentiate between a tweet, a mention, or a DM, but there are other ways to address this (I have Growl use different colors and notification styles for each of the three types).
If somebody wants that level of detail, its easy enough to configure Growl to provide it. For many others, a new tweet is a new tweet, regardless of whether it's a reply, mention, or DM. – Jesse David Hollington, on May 28, 2009 12:17

Update Twitter Passwords in TweetieThere definitely needs to be a way to update your password in Tweetie directly. I recognize that the Twitter API doesn't necessarily allow for password changes, but I'm referring to when you change your Twitter password on the web and then come back to Tweetie.
ideally, I'd like to see Tweetie pop-up and prompt you for a new password when authentication fails. This could be done either proactively (as an immediate pop-up window), or in response to clicking on the "Error" icon at the bottom of the Tweetie window.

I just deleted my account and re-created it with the new password, but that's a far messier way of doing it.
There should definitely be a way to update your password in Tweetie directly. In fact, ideally Tweetie should pop-up and prompt you for a new password when authentication fails, either proactively, or at least in response to clicking on the "Error" message at the bottom of the Tweetie window.-

You can already do this in your Growl preferences. Simply go in to your Growl preference panel, choose Tweetie on the "Applications" tab and you can choose different notification preferences for tweets, mentions or DMs. – Jesse David Hollington, on May 06, 2009 22:18
A comment on the problem "Timeline and mentions should be in sync" in atebits:
I'd agree with this as well, actually. This has been an issue for me in both Tweetie on the Mac and the iPhone, although at least the Mac version has a notification dot -- on the iPhone itself there were many times I missed new replies/mentions *entirely* because they didn't show up in the main timeline. – Jesse David Hollington, on May 05, 2009 14:27-

A comment on the idea "Growl notifications: use username as the title instead of "new tweet", "new mention" etc." in atebits:
Well, I'm seeing inconsistent behavior with the avatars, but for me the notifications are *always* titled "New Tweet" (or "New Mention" or whatever). – Jesse David Hollington, on May 05, 2009 14:24

I'm seeing the same thing. I think the icon/avatar issue is a bug that will hopefully be fixed in a future update, rather than a design choice. – Jesse David Hollington, on May 05, 2009 14:23-

Jesse David Hollington replied on May 05, 2009 14:21 to the question "bring back the old highlight!" in atebits:
I may get used to it, but the problem I'm having with the new highlight style is that it make the selected Tweet appear *too* prominently -- it looks like it's a mention or DM as opposed to simply the selected tweet, and as a result is very visually distracting.
Although I don't mind the current light-blue style for mentions, I'd suggest that the style for mentions should be more emphasized than the style for the selected tweet.-
