Google Reader Firefox extension for sharing stories directly on Mento!

I would love to see Mento developing an extension (or greasemonkey script) that works in Firefox for Google reader!

Something that would allow user to share a particular Google Reader story (a feed item) directly on Mento with images and some text!!

Right now, if I have to share a google reader item (which is primary source of all information that I share on Mento!), I have to open the link (though I can read entire item within reader!) in new browser tab and then share it with mento!!

I love FriendFeed bookmarket because if enables me to select upto three images along with my shared link! If Mento can also enable users to select more than one images while sharing the story, it would be great!

The reason being, there are many links/stories where its difficult to choose just one image .. And many stories are such that more than one images gives the context of the story with just images so user can decide whether he really wants to go look at original page!

Next big thing for mento would be to enable users to add YouTube and SoapBox videos (with other famous video sharing sites) by selecting them through extension just like users do with images right now!

No idea if that is doable..

A comment on the idea "Automatically post my daily shared links to my Blog" in Mento:

I would love to have following details.

--Simple bullets based blog post which contains Title of the page (saved with mento bookmark), Image Thumbnail (smaller thumbnails which links back to the original page from where story was captured), Comment (that I made while adding link to my mento) and a small link to its page on Mento where if required, people can discuss that story with me!

It would be great if system while preparing the blog post can also import other comments that story might have got from my mento network and include them in blog post! that way you can encourage discussion on links through other people's blog (getting them back to mento.info)! And from search engine perspective also, it will add ranks to pages on mento!

Automatically post my daily shared links to my Blog

It would be really good if Mento at the end of each day/week/month (user configurable) goes and post a new blog post on my blog (user will provide his blog's XMLRPC url and username/pass)..

If mento can post a blog with thumbnail and comments of all consolidated links for given duration, my blog readers will also benefit from what I share on mento.. And this probably will pull more traffic to mento as well!

At least support for Blogger and Wordpress would be adorable..

The RSS feed for my recent activity on GetSatisfaction doesnt set the titles properly..

Say for example, I have added the RSS feed to FriendFeed (its RSS aggregator) and here is how it shows,

For each and every topic it says the same thing "Jigar Mehta shared an idea on _____(company name)"

Instead RSS feed title should contain first initial words of the title (and linking back to the original post page on getsatisfaction!)

PNG file detection on browser page doesnt work?

I have observed that few sites still uses PNG files for image on browser page.. If I try to share those page and try to add those images via mento, I dont get image highlighted! Doesn't Mento addon (firefox) work with PNG images or am I missing something?

It would be cool to have mento share my thumbnails and links to facebook (share a link feature!) as well.. It will also get traffic to mento if somebody wants to see full resolution picture! (And if user clicks on the link they should be redirected to actual story!)

Would'nt it be cool if ping.fm can also post status updates to Geni (Genealogy website - http://geni.com).. Not sure if they expose APIs for their platform, but I am sure Ping.fm can figure something out!

Instead of that, I would love it, if I get the post like,

The current twitter post is useless (in most cases!)

Having said all these, I already know.. twitter is meant for status update which are not expected to be more than 160 chars, but sometimes systems turn out to be useful for more means than its originally designed for! Just 2 cents from a user! :)

We all know twitter has ridiculous limit of 160 characters (just because mobile status updation!) but for people like me, who update status through IM and post more than 160 characters for any post, why doesnt Ping.fm behave intelligently and push initial part (may be first 140 chars) of original story and later a hyper link to entire story which leads users to a page on ping.fm which displays entire story (can even be 1000 characters!)
