Yes, you were right. I just tested my Desktop using the following command and it generated correct results !
grep /user/hadoop/input /user/hadoop/g_output king[a-z.]*
So indeed it was due to the way of passing parameters in the Desktop.

Running "grep" example in Cloudera Desktop using the JobDesignerWhen I used the following command,
hadoop jar /usr/lib/hadoop-0.20/hadoop-0.20.1+152-examples.jar grep /user/hadoop/input /user/hadoop/g_output 'king[a-z.]*'
it generates an output file contains the words starting with "king". However, when I launch a job having the same command and arguments with the JobDesigner, the output file becomes empty ! This does not happen in the "wordcount" example. If you have any idea about this, please let me know. Thanks a lot~!! -

Oh, as I remember even when I used the RPM file with the same version of Cloudera Desktop, I could see the same error message too ! FYI, I used the "cloudera-desktop-0.2.0-1.x86_64.rpm" file to install. -

Hi, Todd? I downloaded the source file of Cloudera Desktop from "http://archive.cloudera.com/desktop/". It looks like I used 0.2.0 version. Anyway, I bypassed this issue through manual modification of the setuptools version in "versions.cfg". BTW, I am using CentOS 5.2 and Python 2.5.4 version. -

Even though I used the "--nodeps" option to install the Cloudera Desktop using RPM file, it consistently complains about the "VersionConflict: (setuptools 0.6c11 (/usr/share/cloudera-desktop/eggs/setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg), Requirement.parse('setuptools==0.6c9')) . . ." error. Do you have any idea about this?
