James,
Apologies for the lack of clarity. I'm responsible for the webinar signup forms, and it did not occur to me that people might feel concerned about their privacy.
All the information we gather on our webinar registration forms are solely for use by PBwiki; we do not share it or sell it in any way. I'll add such a note to the webinar signup pages to make this completely clear.
Thanks for voicing your concern! I'm sure there were others who felt the same fear, but were reluctant to speak up.
A comment on the problem "Privacy policy needed!" in PBwiki:
I thank you for your answer, but I remain unsatisfied about the webinar promotion that occurred within your pages.
The webinar registration page asked (unnecessarily, I judged) for address, and phone number. I can only presume the purpose was to gather targets for mail and phone spam.
There was no privacy statement on that page, from the promoter/producer of the webinar or pbwiki or Get Satisfaction. My purpose in writing was to advise you that I took the absence as an indication you were not exercising control over the webinar producer, and that was reflecting poorly on you.
I am glad that pbwiki has a privacy policy, but that does not alleviate the discomfort I would feel providing information such as was required for that webinar registration.
I still believe pbwiki should have standards that prevent that information collection on a promoted activity -- or provide assurances _on that page_ that the information would not be misused.
Sincerely

Hi Jim,
We have a privacy policy. It's been with us for a long time and it's enforced. You'll find it's linked at the bottom of our home page. Here's the link:
http://pbwiki.com/content/privacypolicy
We do ask for email addresses and we might contact you later. We don't spam you and we don't share the emails with anyone.
I think it might be a good idea for us to post a link to the PP whenever we ask for an email address for any reason. Thanks for telling us about your concerns. They are valid and we want to hear from you.

Privacy policy needed! The 2008.06.06 invitation to a webinar sounds like it might be interesting, but upon going to the registration page, it looks to me that it asks for too much information -- and there's no privacy statement. Sionce it involves a mortage industry person, I am suspicious that my information would be misused to generat spam email or phone calls.
It damages your reputation to permit such misuse.
Recommendations:
1. implement a privacy policy and enforce it.
2. avoid collecting privacy threatening information
Sincerely
