I just bought an 06 Malibu. The remote started doesn't seem to be working. I tried replacing the battery in the Key fob. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I just bought an 06 Malibu. While driving it home from the dealership tonight, the brake lights seemed to be working "backwards". The brake lights were on while I was driving. When I hit the brake pedal, the brake lights went off. About half way home, the problem appears to have corrected. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this something I should be concerned about?
