jkr reported a problem in reQall on June 23, 2009 14:55:
Google link not workingEven though reQall says I have linked my Google account, none of the events I have created show up in my Google Calendar. Nor do my Calendar items show up in reQall. What am I missing here? I have waited for over an hour after the initial link, but to no avail. Should I see some sort of confirmation in my Google account that they are linked? In calendar I don't see anything.-

jkr replied on April 01, 2009 16:13 to the problem "Hang - error: TRYCREATE No folder Archive (failure) - Archive folder disappeared" in Postbox, Inc.:
There were two folders that started with Archive/ as in
Archive/Agent-based Models
and another one. Those were available as labels (Archive/Agent-based Models) and IMAP folders in Gmail. When I tried to create a "Archive" folder, Gmail told me, that I couldn't do that because it's used internally.
So what I did now was to create folder called "Archived" and changed the server settings in Postbox to use this folder as the archive folder. Now all is well again.
I have no idea what folder I had used before as the archive folder to be honest, so I cannot recreate the problem.

Hang - error: TRYCREATE No folder Archive (failure) - Archive folder disappearedPostbox b10 only shows me the watch-symbol now, with the following message at the bottom:
"The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: [TRYCREATE] No folder Archive (failure)."
All worked well until yesterday. No changes on my part.
I am using Gmail via imap.
UPDATE [April 1, 2009 @ 11:18 AM]
So apparently either Postbox or Gmail destroyed my Archive folder - I cannot locate it anywhere. Two subfolders are still available. But the original message No folder makes sense - there is none. I noticed that yesterday there were suddenly a number of archive folder copies on Gmail when I browsed in online in a browser. All of a sudden now those have disappeared, unfortunately together with the Archive folder.
What happened? And how can I fix this? Any ideas?

jkr reported a problem in Postbox, Inc. on March 14, 2009 05:10:
SMPT server default setting not working as expectedI use Gmail (with the setting set "from" to another account within Gmail). Recently, because of the use of the Gmail SMTP server, my mails ended up in the spam folders or my students (the method Gmail uses to mark your email as a different account is rather crude). So I tried to set my university SMTP server as the default option - but no matter what I try, I always get the Gmail SMTP server first and have to manually select the other (university) server which is supposedly the default as an option in each new message. I quit several times, to no avail. The correct SMTP server is selected as default, but what I actually get when I start a new mail, is the non-default Gmail server.
Even after having deleted the Gmail SMTP server it STILL shows up as the default in new messages (which does not make any sense to me). How can that be? It should not even exist as an option! All mails sent that way also disappear and do never make it to the light of day. This is VERY irritating - if you forget to change manually to the supposedly default (and only) SMTP server setting, then your mail - although reported as sent during the process - actually never makes it.
What am I missing here?

Hmm. Since you want to get into the GTD crowd, I would STRONGLY reconsider this approach. The Inbox for these folks (including me) needs to be cleared out first - why else would you want to make the archive function so easy? The point for GTD folks is to delegate tasks - which in email terms means delegating it to the archive and out of the archive.

And I really woulnd't mind knowing what this will cost me in the end - I think, a lot of people are put off by that. I'll be happy to pay some $$, now that I have experienced the great advantages of using Postbox over Mail, but some more explanation as "we are still in beta, everything is up for grabs" as it is stated now on the website is necessary for a mission critical app such as email...
jkr gave praise in Postbox, Inc. on March 08, 2009 20:01:
Changed my mail preference to PostboxI never thought, I'd needed a replacement for Mail on the Mac. But Postbox is fantastic - it is fast, doesn't mess with the IMAP structure of Gmail, and runs around Mail in terms of ease of use for me at least. I can't wait to see the continued development of this app. It would be helpful for (potential) users to give a bit of a road-map to folks who entrust one of their most important computer uses - email - to another software that might, or might not?, make it to prime-time. I think, you really need to address that issue for users in order to encourage them to make the switch. For all users of Gmail on the Mac, Postbox is THE best solution IMHO. You really need to explain that better to folks, who are a bit frustrated with the multiple copies and many confusions Mail causes with Gmail IMAP integration.

A comment on the question "Does Postbox work well with OmniFocus on the Mac?" in Postbox, Inc.:
Since they just announced a big cooperation with David Allen's GTD operations, this might be really interesting for a larger group of users out there. I would very much like to see some ability to either (1) link messages directly to an email(-thread) or at least (2) easily copy material from Postbox to OmniFocus. I never thought I needed a replacement for Apple Mail, but now that I have used Postbox for a few days, there's now returning back. One big feature I am missing is Omnifocus integration and further improved Mac integration (the addressbook feature is a start, but deeper integration is hopefully planned?) – jkr, on March 07, 2009 14:36-
