Recognition of URLs that have been shortenedWhen you publish a URL with more than 50 characters, micURL automatically shortens it to a URL like this one: http://micurl.com/0hupfc. If are logged in to YouAre, place the cursor on the link and look towards the lower left of your browser. There you’ll see the source URL.
This is convenient because it lets you see if you really want to click what’s there, if the content is NSFW, etc.
PS: When writing or pasting in a URL, characters aren’t subtracted.
PS 2: YouAre and the little details

micURL APIWe don’t want to depend on outside applications to compress links published by people which is why we have created micURL to shorten the URL’s.
micURL API is based on GET commands.
The number of requests has been limited to 20 requests from the same IP each minute, except for youare.com where no restrictions apply.
Method
http://micurl.com/api.php?url=xxxxxxx
Where xxxxxxx stands for the URL you want to micurl.
Results are more efficient if the URL is passed encoded.
* for PHP
* for Javascript
Possible Answers
1. Wrong URL - (API returns 1)
2. Request Limit reached - (API returns 2)
3. micurlvalue (Value for the URL in micurl. Example: http://micurl.com/micurlvalue) - API returns chars
Contact
If you have some questions, or need the requests to be increased for a certain service. Please, let us know at use {at} youare {dot} com.

What is QR Code and what is it used for?QR Code: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code
A QR Code is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code). Although initially used for tracking parts in vehicle manufacturing, QR Codes are now used in a much broader context. They span from both commercial tracking applications to convenience-oriented applications which are aimed at mobile phone users.
On YouAre, each post has its own QR Code. In order to read the QR Code you need to click on this icon (http://youare.com/i/icons/qr.png).
If you click on the icon, a new window will open. Now you will be able to read the QR Code using you mobile device. The following video shows a short demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crPg_e...
You can read the QR Code using your mobile phone with software such as:
- Kaywa Reader: http://reader.kaywa.com/
- or iMatrix (for iPhone TM): http://www.imatrix.lt/Default.aspx?pa...
What is a QR Code used for? A quick an easy method of transferring selected data from your computer to your mobile phone. For example: contact details, a geopositioning, a web address, etc.

How to filter the content of the people who I follow?When you add a user to follow their updates you will be able to classify them into different categories (friends, online friends, acquaintances, co-workers, colleagues and family members).
Sometimes you might only wish to receive updates from one category of contact. Using the checkboxes on the sidebar of your home page ("Filter updates" link), you can mark which categories you wish to receive updates from. Updates from those left unchecked will consequently not appear on your homepage. The new changes will be updated automatically.
YouAre Team asked a question in YouAre on December 19, 2008 12:01:
How to add/edit/remove contacts?When you're visiting the content of another user, in the upper part of the sidebar you'll find the "Follow updates" button . If you click on this button you will be able to add the user as a friend, an online friend, a colleague, a co-worker, etc. If you want you can skip this step. Once you have added the user, their contents will appear on your homepage.
In order to remove the user and not see their content, you have to click on the "Following" button, and in the next step you will have the option to remove the user.
