I want this so my twitter updates everything, using ping as the medium... Ping doesnt have the image posting capabilities that twitter does... Id rather just update twitter to update everything... Ping is a very nice service tho!

I think this is a great idea. I don't use the SMS technology, but I definately update twitter from my phone using 3G or desktop Apps. This would be great, knowing it updated everywhere.

Here's the short, pardon the pun, if you want to be mainstream, you have to offer this service.
Twitter has it, Facebook has it, MySpace has it, Ping updates them, why can't Ping update from SMS?

i have unlimited texting on my phone, and even though i have email and web access on my phone, it doesn't work in my area (parts of vermont), so txting ping updates from my phone is paramount for me, otherwise, it's useless as i use brightkite (which DOES do this from my phone).

Hey you guys. I just posted to ping.fm via txt using my email address that ping gave me. Listen, they say it costs too much, then send a txt with your e-mail address it freaking works and there is no charge for a garage based site as awesome as this one. Just sayin

A shortcode might complicate matters. It might not work internationally. A regular GSM no should work fine, although it's harder to remember. I believe you can get incoming SMS gateways fairly inexpensively, but it still might be beyond the budget. – Callum Macdonald, on July 24, 2008 23:59
