See existing tags when adding new onesWhen entering tags for a book, it would be useful to see the tags you've already entered. This has the advantage of making it easier to add tags (just clicking on ones you'd like to apply via ajax and/or a checklist) as well as helping to prevent entering multiple tags that basically mean the same thing (e.g., funny vs humorous). That would help (me, anyway) from fragmenting my books among a bajillion tags/keywords.

Problem adding custom coverWhen adding a custom cover photo, it only generates a "t150" image.

Allow people to borrow booksI don't know if you want to go this far, but it would be nice to allow people to request to borrow books from their contacts. It's great to share a book you love with a friend (and also keep track of who has it). I know my memory sucks, and I can never remember who has what unless I write it down.
You could take this as far as you like (e.g., having a list of allowed borrowers so you don't get inundated with requests, etc.) You can include borrowing stats in the int. gamerscore idea and show the best lenders and biggest mooches.

Local author readingsNot sure if the information is readily available, but it'd be nice to have a place for local author readings. I know the local bookstores, etc. list readings here in Seattle, but I doubt they have a feed (maybe on upcoming?). Even if you'd have to rely on users entering the info, I think it'd be cool.-

How many points do I get for reading the entire Dr. Seuss library? The Hungry Little Caterpillar? This is a great idea, but I'm wondering if Amazon lists data regarding the general difficulty of a book. I'm guessing they at least label something as children, adult, etc. I'd give more points to someone who's read (and understood) the entire Feynman Lectures than someone who's read all of Harry Potter.
On the other hand, I don't consider this a competition. I thoroughly enjoy reading children's books, but if you're going to score things, there should be certain rules. Or you can just go T-Rex and tell me "sucks to that!"-
