James Mowery asked a question in Twitter on December 15, 2009 17:39:

    James Mowery
A serious flaw with Twitter Search affecting search and third-party apps. Requires attention from Twitter staff ASAP.
Locations are confused with each other from different countries.

For example, I live in the county of Isle of Wight in Windsor, Virginia, USA. But I always receive tweets from people in Isle of Wight, UK when searching by location for 23487 (my zip code), Windsor, VA (my town), Isle of Wight, VA (still pulls up UK searches), and anything else you can imagine.

But it gets even worse. If I search a neighboring city, (Like Newport News, VA), and I have it use the option to include neighboring locations by a certain amount of miles, and Windsor, VA happens to be included, it still pulls up results from the UK for "Isle of Wight" or "Isle of Wight, UK." or random Longitude and Latitude coordinates from who knows where.

It doesn't make any logical sense for that to happen, and I've actually added people and asked them "What's up in Virginia," and they will go crazy and state they are not in the States, they are in the UK. How on earth can I be sure where these people are located?

    It's silly!

The search algorithm is confusing locations. It certainly isn't separating locations from different regions, countries, or others. So, it makes searching by location absolutely pointless in my case, and I'm sure that any other town/city in the world with a similar town/city in another country might be suffering from the same.

Perhaps if there was a way to specify a specific state and/or country in the search, and ensure that when you search by distance, it does not pull up results from different countries, this could be made to work a lot better than it is currently.

But, it is a serious problem for those who are utilizing location based third-party applications, like myself.

I have seen others with the same issues, but there has never been a reply from Twitter about this.

Can someone confirm that this is a known issue by Twitter or that someone at Twitter is working on it? It makes location

James Mowery asked a question in Qik on November 25, 2008 19:03:

    James Mowery
What phones supports Qik on the Verizon network?
Will Qik support any of the following phones on Verizon's wireless network: HTC Touch Pro, Samsung Omnia, Samsung Saga, or BlackBerry Storm? If so, which phone has the best support and best quality? Again, all of these are Verizon phones. Thanks!
