A comment on the question "What's the deal with the "Recently had an oil change" box?" in Sidebar Creative:
It had absolutely no functionality. We were going to add the functionality but never took the time. – John Nunemaker, on July 05, 2009 19:06

See this response for more information. Should be fixed for now.

I whipped together a script tonight that unfollowed all who were not following mymm that mymm was following which freed up some space in the follower limits. I then made the script follow all people who were following mymm that mymm was not following.
Easiest way to tell if this worked is to go to:
http://doesfollow.com/mymm/[your twitter username]
For example, for me I would go to:
http://doesfollow.com/mymm/jnunemaker
If that says yes, then we followed you correctly and you should be able to DM us fillups. If your twitter account is private, be sure to approve the request as well. If it says nope, then you were somehow missed by the automated script.

Scott,
It doesn't matter if you add mymm to your twitter account. mymm also has to add you. Right now Twitter has set some follower limits on us. They had removed them but apparently they are back. We have put in support requests but there is nothing we can do until Twitter changes it.
Trust me, I want it too. I can't even follow myself from the mymm account and I work on mymilemarker.
John Nunemaker replied on March 23, 2009 05:32 to the question "Is there a way to do a CSV export of the data?" in Sidebar Creative:
First off, there is an iPhone app, it is just not native. If you visit mymilemarker.com/m on your iPhone, you get a sexy version of mobile M3. I use that from my iPhone and it gets the job done.
Second, we actually have an xml API for M3, but we just haven't announced it. It could change down the road, but I'd rather give you something that is functional now than make you wait for something perfect down the road.
I wrote up a really simple Ruby wrapper http://gist.github.com/83431 that you can checkout which shows you how to:
* List all your vehicles
* Get info for an individual vehicle
* Get all histories for a vehicle
* Get fuel_economy and mileage reports (these are the weakest as they are just tailored to power the graphs you see in M3 right now)
I'm going to assume that if you care this much about export you are probably a programmer of some sort and that you should be able to figure out what I'm doing and convert it to your programming language of choice. If I'm making too big of an assumption, let me know.
At some point down the road, we'll evaluate what, if any, changes need to be done to the API and it could mutate. We'll be sure to say something beforehand, but just know that you've been warned.
So, in conclusion, we've had an API from the beginning, but didn't announce it because we wanted to document and "officially" support it. Since we haven't had time to do either of those, I've blown the whistle on what we have, but it could change at any point (though we'll most likely warn first).

Get an API and I'll write all the glue for github and such, as I would love to have integration. :)
On top of an API, I would love to see web hooks along the lines of GitHub's services. You wouldn't need anything that complex, but doing a simple post to user provided url's would make it really easy we developers to build various notifications in (campfire, twitter, etc.).-

Sorry for the confusion! There is actually no deal with it. It was there as originally there were plans to send a friendly reminder email about 3k miles after you checked it. We never actually implemented it and it has been a source of confusion ever since. Today, I took it off until we actually figure out the details of how the implementation should be. Hope that clears it up.

We are in no way attempting to lock you into our app. Data export is not a priority right now but that does not mean it is not on the todo list. How about instead of voicing complaints, we change this thread into ideas for what you would want in an export feature. XML? CSV? Do other services offer import/export? That would give us better definition of the problem which would help us prioritize.

In order to properly calculate gas mileage, we have to know whether you logged consecutive fillups. The Last fillup wasn't is more like the last fillup recorded wasn't. If you skipped recording a fillup then we don't want to assume that you are all of a sudden going twice as many miles on a tank of gas. Does that make sense?
