Joel Mahoney replied on February 26, 2009 03:37 to the question "How does JackRabbit get paid?" in JackRabbit Systems:
Hotels may opt to pay JackRabbit on a per-click or per-reservation basis.
The per-click model is just like other PPC online advertising programs: hotels pay for each click that is generated from the BookDirect search engine and sent to the hotel's website. The per-click fee is 1% of the hotel's low annual average daily rate - for example, a $75 per-night hotel would pay $0.75 per click.
In the per-reservation model, the hotel must embed the JackRabbit reservation tracking script in their confirmation page so we can connect the dots after the guest leaves our site and goes to the hotel. If a click that came from BookDirect actually makes it all the way to the confirmation page - indicating that a reservation has been placed - we charge a flat 12% of the pre-tax reservation amount.
JackRabbit provides each hotel with detailed analytics reports so they can see exactly what they are paying for.
Joel Mahoney replied on February 26, 2009 03:15 to the question "What is "screen-scraping" and how does JackRabbit employ this technology?" in JackRabbit Systems:
JackRabbit refers to it as "price indexing" - we think "scraping" sounds a little harsh! In essence, indexing does the same thing that a person would do if they were collecting information from a website: an automated robot goes to the hotel website, submits a search form and grabs the low rate for each day of the year. That way we can show the right pricing when users search for availability on the DMO website. It's the same technology that Google uses in order to get websites to show up properly in their search results...
Joel Mahoney replied on February 26, 2009 03:10 to the problem "I'm signed up with BookDirect but my hotel isn't showing up in the results!" in JackRabbit Systems:
When a guest searches for availability in the BookDirect search engine, we show listings that have availability for the dates of their search. If your hotel does not have availability for these dates, we do not show the listing in the results. It's also possible that your listing is on a deeper results page - try using the pagination buttons or sorting the results by name to find your listing.
