Great, thanks though a day late and a dollar short :)
Seriously though I had pretty much figured my assumptions were right, and that as you pointed out the safest, cleanest and actually easiest way to deal with this was to just uninstall/reinstall, which I did. However, before I reinstalled I did take a quick peek at the registry and stumbled on the entries you mentioned and kicked myself for not just doing a search for xmarks in the registry to begin with. Oh well, lesson learned, and gave me an opportunity to experience your great support first hand.
I do want to thank you and Nate for your helpful assitance. I really enjoy app forums where the actual developers/employees actively participate. You know I just stumbled onto this utility through someone at work, and can't believe I had not heard of it before. It is trully a concept that is overdue. I tried a similar app a number of years ago a think called pulse or something like that but it had some real issues. The fact that this supports multiple browsers (any plans for chrome and Safari on PC's) and profiles is awesome. My only fear now is that now that I am hooked on it and soon to become dependent that you all will realize what a great thing you have and start charging and that would kill it for me.
Great work I applaud your developers and support staff, thank you.

I get the same error with a manual/forced download. Essentially, I need somehow to look to a different location for where the favorites are stored. That is I need to tell it that instead of looking in "C:\Users\jfxxxxxx\AppData\Local\Xmarks\favicons\fipaa-*" to look in "C:\Users\john\AppData\Local\Xmarks\favicons\fipaa-*" is there anyway of doing this under Xmarks Settings or through the registry?
I am pretty there isn't a way of handling this and that I will need to resort to uninstall/reinstall, however, wanted to bring it to your attention and recommend that this could be a useful option to be added to a future version under Xmarks Settings, Advanced, to change the location for Xmarks AppData.
Thank you,
John
John asked a question in Xmarks on July 06, 2009 00:07:
Changed User/profile location, now Xmarks won't syncI recently recreated my local user account, but copied all my old profile settings, however, I am getting the following "Internal error while writing to Favorites: XmarksException [source: windows, id: 3]; error reading favicon directory: C:\Users\jfxxxxxx\AppData\Local\Xmarks\favicons\fipaa-*"
The thing is I know the folder "jfxxxxxx" no longer exists. So how can I reassign it to my new user profile? Do I actually have to uninstall/reinstall, or is there some registry edits I could perform?
Please advise, Thank you.
