Does the code view i-sight as just another scanner, or does it need to have its own code? Can we assume (uh-oh!) that fixes to the scanner code will help the sometimes-balky i-sight functionality?

Like a lot of people I have multiple itunes libraries and would like to park both databases on a NAS volume and have them visible from any computer on the net. Is this what Publishing is for?

I'll second that. I have only a small fraction of my CD collection ripped to itunes. It's nice to sort across the DL library AND iTunes, but it'd be great to see which is which some way.

I'm interested (hugely interested) in being able to search for a track name across both the contents of my itunes library plus the DL2, since not all CDs are ripped into iTunes. In my limited experimentation, spotlight found a track name okay, but double clicking the citation didn't bring up the item in DL2. Unless I messed it up somehow.

What would be great:
-- fetch the media referenced by spotlight,
-- open the details pane and
-- highlight the search term. Does it work that way? COULD it work that way?

Well, actually, I was able to scan in 523 albums using the USB bar code scanner. I did have to double click the citation when it was fetched to get it into the database, but it looks okay.

Yeah, having it be truly automatic would be a big help.

I'm using a wireless usb (professional) scanner I rented--a PSC Powerscan). It works great, but doesn't automatically open a new item when I press the trigger on the scanner.

If I hit the Plus-sign first, then scan in, it's fine.

But I was under the impression that it should be working automatically. Doing it this way is really slowing down the operation!

Other than that -- GREAT revision. I have had the library since 1.0, and it's SO much better, faster, easier now.
