Need root password for AMI created using CFTHow can I get the root password for the AMI I create using CFT?
Elastic Fox has a button to start an SSH shell. However, it assumes that the user is root. So, it asks for the root password which I dont have.
Please help.
Thanks

Hello,
did the instance start running and did you have to stop it? i checked the page again and i see that no instances are running. please acknowledge that you have shut down any instance that was started using CFT's page or tell me that you have no way of doing it so that i can look at alternatives.
Thanks.

I got a separate direct message from CFT asking which AMI I was trying to launch. Here is the response I sent:
"It is https://es.cohesiveft.com/server/deta.... When I opened the page just now to respond to you, I saw one instance running (apparently from about 4:30 GMT). That was when I started it. But even after a couple of browser restarts, I never saw this. However...
As I started typing this email, I saw that cft started terminating the instance saying something like “user initiated shutdown” and it finally said terminated!!
It just ran for 10 hours without my knowledge and just when I got to know it terminated!
Is Firefox 3.0.1 not supported?
If you have to test the launch, please use this AMI only - this is the AMI created using CFT. Please dont try launching the other AMI that I created by hand.
THanks.

John Adams reported a problem in CohesiveFT on September 20, 2008 10:01:
EC2 instance does not get launchedI created an EC2 elastic server and uploaded it to Amazon S3. On the CFT "Manage ec2" page, i clicked on "Manage running instances". Against one of my Ec2 images, i clicked on launch and asked it to launch 1 instance. I got a message that said something like this page will be updated automatically with the status of the running instance.
Anyhow, it has been about 5 hours now and refreshing the page still says "No instances are currently running under EC2."
Can you please tell me what is wrong here.
THanks.

"Manage EC2" page does not show my AMIWhen i go to "Manage Ec2 images and instances", I dont see the ami that i created on CFT and uploaded onto S3. Here are the details:
I used your portals approach to create and ec2 AMI. Now, I saved the unzipped, untarred AMI to a bucket sep16 on S3 using S3Fox. I changed ACLs so that everyone can read. Now, I suppose I should register the AMI but registration fails. Here is what I see:
C:\ec2>ec2-register sep16/rails2-x-mongrel-nginx-my-sql-16501-1221063747.img.manifest.xml
Client.AuthFailure: Unable to decrypt AMI signature - are you the AMI owner?
I suppose that CFT cannot see my image because registration has not gone through. Why is registration not going through?
One more thing: I had to change the private and cert keys after i created the ami. i then updated CFT with the changed keys.
I am stuck. Can you please help.
Thanks.
