A comment on the question "Best Settings for FCP to QT to Flash in Vzaar" in vzaar:

Lots of tips in here! Many thanks. I'll try it out with the data rates you mention. As for the manipulation of the embed code, I have tried it in the past but it did weird things to the opening thumbnail shot. But as you've said I think it's better to keep the quality up even if the price to pay is a slightly higher file size. Looking forward to the enhanced buffering - that should really help.
Glad you liked the video! I'm pretty confident that the play quality this evening was down to a local issue. It all seems a lot better/smoother now.
Thanks again. You've been a huge help - keep up the good work!

It's definitely improved during the evening so yes, think it's a local issue.
Brilliant support, as always.

Hi Adrian (again)
Many thanks for this. OK, have considered the DNE route but I want my end product to be in FLV format so I guess this makes the H264/mp4 upload a non-starter (if it's uploaded as an MP4 using the DNE route it stays an MP4 right?).
I've checked out the nifty bitrate calculator and I'm a bit mystified as I thought I'd been choosing the right settings. But can I cut to the chase and ask you directly what settings you'd recommend in the QT conversion box (pic attached) to secure a good quality flv end-product (assume 448 x 252 size) with which motion isn't likely to suffer?
Really appreciate your assistance in this matter!
Best. John

Hi Adrian
Thanks for swift reply. OK, the situation has improved somewhat so maybe it was just my connection. You can check this video to see for yourself though:

It seems that any flash video with ambitious movement in it will suffer a little but I have posted a question elsewhere here (http://getsatisfaction.com/vzaar/topi...) in the hope that someone has cracked the settings for doing an FCP>QT>Vzaar Flash workflow that results in something slicker.
Here's hoping,

Best Settings for FCP to QT to Flash in VzaarHas anyone yet figured out the best bunch of settings for getting the best quality video out of Final Cut Pro as a Quicktime movie and into Vzaar to end up as a Flash movie. I've yet to come up with a final product that zings. Flash has its limitations but I think we can do better! Cheers. Your thoughts most welcome.
John D reported a problem in vzaar on August 20, 2009 20:28:
Videos not playing smoothlyMaybe it's just my internet connection, (although I've just tested it and getting 4.5MBs download speed), but my vzaar videos are not playing smoothly tonight - they're sticking quite a bit. I know this can be a facet of flash videos but I'd be grateful if someone could confirm whether there is an ongoing issue at this time that's making the vids 'go sticky'. Cheers

Second that suggestion, too. If autoplay isn't activated, it's nice for the video to actually look like a video, not just a space on a website. An ever-present play button would also entice visitors. And it's a very nice play button, too... – John D, on August 08, 2009 18:23

Would like to add my support to the autobuffering without autoplay option. Bring it on!... – John D, on August 08, 2009 18:19
