JeePee shared an idea in Xmarks on October 03, 2009 12:47:
Enhance the Bookmark sidebar with tag drilldownI read about the Xmarks addon for Firefox and though it could be a good replacement of the Delicious addon I currently use. One reason is that Delicious adds a seperate set of bookmarks, where Xmarks works with the Firefox bookmarks itself (if I understood correctly).
The only thing that stops me from switching is that I would loose the Delicious sidebar, while the Firefox sidebar is not half as good.
The great thing from the Delicious sidebar is the way in which search results (found in bookmark name, url, tags, keywords and notes) are displayed. It divides the sidebar in a upper and lower area. The top part shows all tags that match your search criteria and the bottom part all urls that match. Behind the tags it shows the number of bookmarks with that tag. Then it allows you to drill down tags to a second level with relates tags. If you click on a tag, it shows all bookmarks with that tag in the lower area. See attached screenshot.
I realize this is probably more a feature request for Firefox then it is for Xmarks. Then again, if Delicious can do it, Xmarks could to do that too + internet explorer does not use tags, so there is an opportunity for a good addon too... :)
