BugMeNot replied on November 14, 2009 08:20 to the question "Why my add-on doesn't update automatically ?" in Mozilla:
It seems mailforgood was updated on November 11, and the reason for the delay is covered in this blog post
BugMeNot replied on November 14, 2009 08:14 to the question "Page working fine in Firefox 1.5 not working in Firefox 3/3.5" in Mozilla:
Without seeing the actual page code, there is no way to see how standards compliant the page is.
Given that there is only one rendering engine in Firefox and that engine is always becoming more standards compliant, please run the code from the page through the W3C validator
and run the stylesheets through the Jigsaw validator and lastly run the page code through the Accessibility valet and post results from each of the reports here.
It may be possible using either a Stylish userstyle or Greasemonkey userscript to fix the broken code on the page if you're not the author of the page. Helping you do that would need us to see the actual page code.

What if he is into finding ways to circumvent you seeing what he is into?
He could even set up an automated decoy browsing history/log of whatever keeps you from delving deeper.
All of the following suggestions can be circumvented, but may help you learn better ways to spy on him faster than he can learn how to get around them:
http://www.glubble.com/download is specifically designed for ease of such control.
http://www.wireshark.org/download.html is not easy but has a user guide (also in help file format)
http://www.snort.org/downloads/ is also hard and also has some setup guides
Best advice: move his computer into the living room with a 50 inch screen facing you all :)

This should not be in Firefox by default, since having this would mean smart keyword searches no longer work.
If you want this, install this extension.
BugMeNot asked a question in Mozilla on October 30, 2009 02:14:
Form history in 3.5 auto deletes every 24hrs - why?hi guys
I upgraded to Firefox 3.5.3 and now formhistory.sqlite wipes itself clean at 18.00hrs every day. I've tried every tweak in the Privacy options possible, created a new clean Profile in case there were any problems as a result of the upgrade, and still nothing stops it autodeleting itself each day. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this to happen? Love Firefox, but this is driving me nuts!
thanks
BugMeNot replied on October 25, 2009 09:41 to the question "Make Address Bar NOT open a new tab." in Mozilla:
This is NOT Firefox's default behaviour, I don't even think it's a behaviour you can invoke with an about:config setting.
The only way I can reproduce something like this behaviour is by holding the ALT button down when I press Enter.
To rule out possible causes, as a diagnosis step please see if you can reproduce this behaviour in either Firefox's own safe mode or a newly created profile you switch to and add a reply detailing your results.

BugMeNot replied on October 25, 2009 00:31 to the idea "Simple installation across systems (including plugins)" in Mozilla:
Install FEBE and from Tools -> FEBE choose "Quick backup", tick the box for "create single xpi" then the "Select All" button.
Then simply drag the created xpi file onto your Tools -> Add-ons dialog in Windows 7
To export all add-on prefs then import them to Windows 7, install OPIE
To create a distribution with the created xpi file in it, use the Client Customization Kit. For windows you can additionally create an installer using this.
A comment on the problem "Firefox takes ages to open one freakin' window" in Mozilla:
That page has dubious instructions like:
"Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to 30"
Any value over 8 for that preference is ignored by firefox. – BugMeNot, on October 17, 2009 19:53

Will, how many fonts are in the \Windows\Fonts\ folder? – BugMeNot, on October 14, 2009 08:14
A comment on the question "Allow native video playing for OGG Theora" in blip.tv:
Firefox currently has grown to 30.84% worldwide, but importantly IE has dropped to 58.75% and by the trend it's only going down from here. Chrome 3 now supports Ogg Theora also, Opera 10.1 will have it. All that's left is Apple to include it in Quicktime by default. If that happens around the same time IE falls below 50%, then the majority of the marketshare will have Ogg Theora. – BugMeNot, on October 14, 2009 06:47
A comment on the question "Why is my Firefox 3 so slow??" in Mozilla:
The number of fonts you have installed on your system also affects the startup time. More than 50 could be noticable.
Also, there are people working on speeding up the startup time so it will only get better in future. – JohnDeer, on October 13, 2009 07:21

With not much to go on, this suggestion is a complete stab in the dark:
One known cause of crashes on startup is problematic LSP software. Here's something to fix that.

Bugmenot replied on September 06, 2009 13:25 to the question "Firefox remembering passwords but NOT auto logging in?" in Mozilla:
1. Locate your profile folder - it's a randomly named subfolder of the
directory that opens when you hold down the "windows logo" key on your keyboard and press R then in that Run dialog paste %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
and hit enter.
2. Ensure Firefox is closed using File -> Exit from menu, and check your Task
Manager processes tab to be sure there is no firefox.exe listed.
3. In the subfolder you found in step 1 find the file named cookies.sqlite and rename it to cookiesBACKUP.sqlite
4. Restart Firefox, log into your sites.
5. Restart firefox again and revisit the sites to see if it logs you in
automatically (if you have chosen "remember me" or other option on the sites.)
