john ellis replied on September 16, 2009 21:07 to the problem "Tweetie should use OAuth instead of passwords" in atebits:
i think that right now, without collecting the password, there is no way to do the image sharing since yfrog and twitpic both require the twitter password...
there might be some other image sharing site that has already worked this out with twitter, but at this point, i'm guessin most users would rather enter pw than loose img sharing.

A comment on the idea "OAuth Support" in atebits:
ouch... that doesn't sound like this'll be solved any time soon and twitter is not allowing any new source id's for basic auth clients... apps that already have source id's in are fine, but new ones are out of luck. – john ellis, on August 12, 2009 12:05

the other problem i've found with my app is that the twitter image sharing sites mostly don't support oauth yet.
even when they do, it seems that they might not support it in a way that works (ie, they may make it so that you have to get a token from twitter for regular posts and from the image sharing site for image posts).

thanks so much for enjoying The Tag Show!
we had definitely considered that, but realized that we only get paid for clicks, not impressions, so if we removed the ad as you are saying, we would get no clicks at all...
one thing you might not have thought of, or realized, there is a menu option to save the image to your library. this saves the original image without the ads... then when you wanna setup your wallpaper, you can scale and move it from there.
another way to go would be to get the $1.99 "My Tag Show"... if you have a twitter account, you can tweet this:
RT @dovevalleyapps: My Tag Show 1.3 released image slideshows: http://bit.ly/myTagShow first 20 to follow me and RT get a promo code
and follow http://twitter.com/dovevalleyapps
i will DM you a promo code good for My Tag Show for free... i ask, however, that you give me a review in the app store after you've downloaded it. My Tag Show is exactly the same as The Tag Show except that it has no ads.
the same goes for anyone else who reads this up to the first 20 promo codes given away.
hope this helps!

john ellis reported a problem in yfrog on July 11, 2009 13:53:
pics not being posted through apiit seems the full url isn't coming back from the api in certain cases. i am seeing this alot in my applicaiton: hideNtweet. i have also seen in in other applications as in this post from tweetie:
http://twitter.com/mrskutcher/statuse...
here is one from my app:
http://twitter.com/pleat/statuses/258...
this is a serious problem as ppl are posting pics that they think are being shared (the main purpose of your site)...
if this is caused by something i'm doing in my code, please let me know.

location cachingthe CLLocationManager is caching location so that i show up where i last got a good gps location. you can fix that by ignoring CLLocation updates that are older than a certain time:
NSTimeInterval howRecent = [newLocation.timestamp timeIntervalSinceNow];
if(abs(howRecent) > 5.0){
return;

i'm very glad you are enjoying The Tag Show! it isn't likely we'll make a mac widget. i'd imagine there are several mac apps that will show slideshows from various photo feeds. i use MediaCentral for slideshows on my mac. it also has several other media features, so that might be overkill for what you are lookin for, but i'll bet there are many other great apps out there.

john ellis replied on October 02, 2008 15:59 to the question "Viewing my flickr group images" in Dove Valley Apps:
do you mean the images other users have added to groups that you belong to? if this is what you mean, then it has not been designed to do that. it is a good idea, however. we'll certainly consider it for the next release.
if you mean images that you uploaded that are in a group, then i'm confused. i'll look into this and see if we are using the api for flickr in some incorrect way.
john ellis replied on October 01, 2008 14:12 to the question "Viewing my own Picasa Album using "MY TAG SHOW" apps?" in Dove Valley Apps:
your picasa images are incorporated into the slide show. not by album, just all your images. under account settings, there should be a place to put in your picasa user name and password. once you do that, and then make sure to tunr on "my feeds" your private images will be in the show. if you only want to see your private images, turn off "public feeds".
sorry, at this time, there is no album browsing feature, it just shows you pictures from picasa randomy.
hope that helps.
