    RSS Feed
Out of curiousity, does anyone know the legal standings on RSS feeds? Can we as a cable TV station pull an RSS feed from a local broadcast station and display it on carousel or is that against copyright issues? Thanks!

I used to have autosize on, but unchecked that and set my text to 20 pt. The problem now is that if the amount of text at 20 pt is more than the space needed it just cuts off the text at the end.

I am still having issues with this. I understand that as of right now there is no way to have the forecast go onto a second bulletin, but is there a way to limit the amount of words WeatherBug will produce?

The issue I had today was the text went down to almost 6 pt font, not even close to readable. Most days the forecast is one or two lines (15-20 words). But when it gets more than that, just not enough room in the zone to read it.

    Ideas? Solutions? Suggestions?

    Autopilot "Stopped"
For some reason while my current show is running it says "Stopped" in the status. Right before that happened we had one of our scheduled shows not switch back when it was supposed to. The channel stayed in black for an extra minute or so, then switched to Carousel. Any ideas why?

It is a Sigma MRX switcher. It is not something we have had issues a lot, but just recently. I do know we used to have scala for out bulletin board and just recently switched to carousel. I did make sure to go into each channel and assign it's default input to the respective carousel player.

    Cablecast switching issues.
We are having some issues where every now and then a program will finish running and instead of switching back to Carousel, it stays in black. It is scheduled to change back to carousel and then within the next minute or so, change to the next program. However, the channel doesn't always change to the next program until we re-send autopilot.

We have also seen issues with our SX4 when for programs are supposed to switch at the top of the hour and the 4th channel does not switch. The program starts playing, but SX4 won't switch to it's respective channel.

Any ideas of what may be wrong?

    Limit Weather Text
We currently have a zone that is 550 X 90 that has two weather bulletins in it. The first is current conditions and temp while the second is a outlook forecast with a length of 1. However, many times there is too much information so the text is really small. When I try setting the text to make it larger, then the sentences get cut off. Any possible solutions? Can I make it so it runs onto a third page?

    Weather Slides
I have weather alert slates set up to run as a bar across the lower 1/3 of my screen. 565 W by 120 H. I have one that runs the current temp and conditions while the second one has outlook length (just 1 time period). I am having troubles with the text area on the outlook slate filling up the whole screen. I would like the biggest font size possible while still getting all of the info. What's the best way to do this?

I've tried a few things. AutoSize (seems to always shrink it down to 6 point font and leaves a ton of "white space" at the bottom). Take off AutoSize and increase font size (miss some of the text when the forecast has lots of words). Change field size to all three (small, medium, large) still leaves white space and has small font.

Maybe I can set it to a large font size and just have a slate follow with any additional text if need be? Maybe this would allow for me to add more "time periods". I had made a suggestion to allow for separate slates to have different "time periods". (for example, slate 1 is today, slate 2 is tonight, slate 3 is tomorrow).

Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

    Jon Hines
    John,

Thanks for your help, I went down to look at what channel each display channel was pointing at. I just shutdown the display then double clicked the player icon and hit configure as it was counting down, they were all pointing at the same channel so I switched each to their respective channel.

On a side note, I noticed one of my CG250s has the display settings (got there by clicking start on Windows XP, Settings, Control Panel, Display, then settings tab) and one is set to less screen resolution and the other three to most screen resolution. What is your recommendation for what I should have it set at?

    Thanks for your help,
    Jon

    Carousel Channel
Under the configuration button (upper right corner), click on "Players", then "Player Status". It lists all of the information correctly, however under "Channel" they are all titled the same. Each of my four players control a different TV channel on our cable system. What does this "Channel" listing under the status mean? Does this go along with my channels on Cablecast? Or is the name of the carousel "channel"? How do I change this?

We had jittery video over the weekend. I thought it might be a defrag issue, but checked and saw that we have version 4.8.3

Should I still defrag weekly just as a regular upkeep?

    Tightrope Slide on Carousel
How do I get rid of the tightrope slide that keeps appearing on carousel? I assume it's just a place holder until we start importing slides, but one of my zones has two slides in it that I just want to keep changing between, but the tightrope digital signage slide rotates with it.

    Weather Slide on Carousel
I was wondering if there was a way to make the three separate weather slides where slide 1 is "today's forecast" and slide 2 is "tonight's forecast" and slide 3 is "tomorrow's forecast". Right now it appears all I can do is have one slide that is all three combined. Any suggestions?

    Mpeg files to DVD
Does anyone have an easy solutions or programs for take files off of your SX4 (or SX2) server and burning them to DVD? We have mpeg streamclip, but converting files takes time and space. Maybe someone has a DVD burning program that works smoothly with Mpeg 2 files? Thanks.

We are running version 4.8.0. It should be the latest version out there. If we left a little delay time in between start times would that help? How much time would they need?

I have come across a few instances where a program will start playing on one of the playback channels but not switch to the proper channel. Seems to happen when all four of the playbacks are set to play at the same time. Any ideas?

    Cablecast Update
I just recently updated my cablecast to version 4.8.0, but when I did I lost Quicktime Pro on the server. Does anyone know a way to get it back.

Also, I am still running Front Door 5.2.0. Has this been updated?
