jon asked a question in Ping.fm on September 21, 2009 14:10:
facebook status update broken yet again for mei can no longer update my facebook status. i am stuck in a seeming loop to add the application. i cannot remove it either. i continue getting the "Congratulations" page when i go to the application, and when i click on "settings" within facebook i get back to the first screen of the ping.fm facebook page that tells me to click to go to facebook!

who cares about unblocking. we care more about having to somehow contact the other user (which you CANNOT DO with a protected account) and saying "hey could you re-request, i accidentally fat fingered the block link, which, incidentally has no freaking confirm, like any decent service would.
j(speaking out of frustration, yes. but it's true ;-)-

Beau's reply to "Use Mint offline -- when might this happen?" was just promoted to the most useful! jon and 4 other people think it's one of the best replies.

As someone who works in a similar industry to Mint, what you're saying is pointless. You keep harping on the fact that you're a "potential user", however, the service is free. You being a user adds overhead to Mint, which costs money. The only time they make money off of you is if you act on a suggestion they make for saving you money.
You said: Please be as specific as you can in your answer. -- The fact of the matter is, Justin was as specific as he could be.
Now, I'm sure if you were to offer to pay for the development costs to have the feature you want implemented, Mint would be more than willing to create that feature for you!
For a free service, the company has to look at many factors and trending in requests. They can't implement every request made by every user. Expecting that is absurd. If you and half the other Mint users wanted this feature, it would make sense to implement it.
About the "not timely" response. Let me ask a question. Are you paying for support? No? Then Mint's response was timely. Everything Mint's employees do has a dollar value associated with it. You can't expect them to cater to your time table.
Enough ranting. Have a nice day! Keep up the good work Mint! Most of us appreciate you! It's just the ones that don't that take the time to say so, unfortunately...-

i want to be able to go to my Windows Mobile Brightkite app (a native app), and have it guess the vicinity for me.
if it's near a placemark, ask me--"you're close to [placemark name]", want to check in?
if it's not, give a general area name, and ask to check in
if that's not what we want, fall back to a normal search (however you want to implement)
i haven't messed with the Google API, let alone know if there's one for the mobile app, but the hoi polloi may be able to come up with this, now that i think about it--but i'd appreciate it more if it came from brightkite ;-)

i was gonna suggest the multiple ping.fm accounts thing (that's what i do) but wasn't sure if it was kosher :D. – jon, on August 21, 2008 16:27
