Sorry about the problems, I just uploaded 0.35 which fixes the login problem by using the 2.0 pownce api. The 2.1 pownce api is still a little flakey, as it's unreleased. This sacrifices the embeds. unfortunately, but when it is better a new update will be sent out.

I've tracked this problem to something with the properties file, until I release an update, a quick fix would be to delete your properties file. This is located on win:

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\PownceMonkey.0B79F3AA8BA7B28571920BBC33ADF06D54740292.1\Local Store\pm.properties

MP3 Referrals

Has Pownce considered adding Amazon MP3, and/or iTunes referrals to music shares? I was just thinking Pownce could increase it's cash flow if it had a "buy song" next to music shares that are just streaming, and not downloadable.

It's all good, there is def something going on with the api at this moment.

I plan on making an easy interface for changing the alert sounds in the future, but if you must change now you should be able to just replace the "chimp.mp3" file in the Program Files folder with another mp3, just have to keep the same name. – Jon Rohan, on May 19, 2008 21:10

I wish this would go away too, but for now I think that some of the other users of the Pownce API are having the same problem. So there is something going on. I'm currently looking into the PM code to see if I can avoid the popup anyway.

also try and note at what point, (what it says in the status bar), it is poping up.

Thanks for the heads up, I've uploaded release 0.31 which should get rid of the popup log in. But it still relies on the pownce api for the notes so it's not completely stable yet. Sometimes its up and sometimes it isn't – Jon Rohan, on May 14, 2008 17:43

Hey Adam, Sorry about the trouble. The Pownce API is getting some work done on it and it's not completely stable right now. :( The fail point I programmed in is when notes are not received. So that is what is happening to your version. I will post a blog message on the Pownce Monkey Blog when things are looking better.

the api.pownce.com is on a seperate server from pownce.com

This problem is temporarily solved. It does have to do with Pownce API bugs. But you should.. be able to login now.

I noticed this too last night, it had something to do with the API and the recent code push. I put in an error request, it seems they fixed it today. If you're still having problems let me know.

There is a settings option, in the menu (click the small monkey head), goto settings, then "alerts"
