Though I like the idea, having the actual desktop still show through the translucent menu bar is somewhat distracting. I suppose just disabling the translucent menu bar would be a temporary fix, but it is more of a work-around than a real solution. I'm not sure if the layered image can be tucked up under the menu bar or not, but it should be looked into.
