Hey Chris-Glad to hear that everything is now up and running. Let me know if you run into any other problems! – BeatportLaura, on June 05, 2008 15:45

Thanks Laura. I found some response, unfortunately it only said I had too many tracks in the check out folder, but that's not the case, it happens with just one track in there. If there's any way you could take a look at my account I'd be very appreciative. Also tried the instant download mode with a credit card and that fails too unfortunately. – Chris Kelly, on June 05, 2008 09:41

Makes sense. But it also seems like a good opportunity to provide users with some information in the form of an auto-reply; some sort of guidance, since in the absence of clear support guidance some people are likely to send Hail Marys to support@. (Or maybe it already does that already?) – joshdamon, on June 04, 2008 23:40

Support@beatport was turned off because we felt it wasn't an efficient way to communicate with our customers. There were too many chances of messages getting lost, etc... – BeatportLaura, on June 04, 2008 23:31

Ugh! It sounds like you went through a lot, so I can totally understand why you are frustrated. We are actually going to be changing the way that we do our surveys from now on due to some comments that we got, yours included. If you want to send me your username I'd like to drop a few credits in your account for taking the survey. I could also re-instate your old account if you'd like...

Why doesn't support@ work any more? – joshdamon, on June 04, 2008 23:28

Hi Laura --
It's nice to see there's some Beatport representation on this site. I also had problems with my Beatport account, went through rounds of emailing resetpassword@, with most of my emails going unanswered and without the problem ever being resolved. I ended up creating a new account with a different email address. It was horrible customer experience, but I was still willing to shop.
After my experience with the customer survey today though, I'll be trying some of the other services listed in this thread.

The "10 Free Songs" Beatport promises for completing a customer survey is really just a 2 year old promotional tracksLook Beatport -- when you're asking people to provide you with data to help run your business, and in exchange you promise "10 Free Songs", you end up:
1) Looking really lame because instead of giving away credits you're giving away a 2 year old set of promotional material
2) Looking dishonest because another way to describe the above scenario is "bait and switch" -- it's a lot like lying
3) Pissing me off enough to write about the experience on GetSatisfaction

@wGEric: Relying on Gmail, or Hotmail, etc. is still relying on a website. Gmail is more reliable; Twitter once was, but now isn't. People who relied on Twitter now have to adjust to it not being reliable. (At least for a while.) – Looce, on May 21, 2008 01:53

The Twitter home page had just such a "snappy" site, that directed me here. – SweetMercury, on May 21, 2008 01:43

As silly as making demands of a completely free service? That silly? – SweetMercury, on May 21, 2008 01:31

It's a good idea Brian, but I'll point out that it actually SHOULD be on a completely different site. Kind of like keeping copies of important documents in a safe place far away from the originals. – Jay Allen, on May 21, 2008 01:29
