Thanks for your reply. Yes, before I posted my question here, I did exactly that (i.e. imported the .vcf file into Windows Address Book utility) -- but then could not figure out how to get that transferred to Outlook.

I have a suggestion for Soocial -- in your "Download a complete backup" link, you should let users download the contacts in a format that is understood by Outlook.

No, I dont think I changed anything (other than un-installing and re-installing Soocial a few times).

Where my entire Outlook contacts seemed to get deleted, don't yet know how or why.

All my contacts from Outlook got deleted (Not sure yet if soocial is the culprit or nott)
I am trying to restore it, but am having problems.

I went to http://www.soocial.com/tools clicked on "Download a complete backup"
The file got saved as a "contacts.vcf" file.

In Outlook, now how do I restore all the contacts? Apparently, Outlook contacts can be imported from a .pst file only.
If feed it the .vcf file, it only imports one contact (the very first one).

I used a text editor to look into the contacts.vcf file, and all my contacts are indeed there)

Hi Bart,
In my C:\Documents and Settings\user_id\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook directory, there is a outlook.ost outlook.nst but no outlook.pst file.

( I use Outlook with an exchange server and I do not have any local folders, should there be a local .pst file?)

After upgrading to the latest version of Soocial client v 0.9.104, the problem still remains, unfortunately. (I did follow instructions about uninstall first followed by a re-install)

Minor improvement, but main problem still exists:
8. I uninstalled Soocial
9. Outlook --> Help --> Detect and Repair.
10. Re-install Soocial
11. Do a Sync. Problem STILL exists.
. but on soocial.com now the connection name appears correctly.

Unfortunately, no luck yet

1. Deleted all Outlook contacts
2. Tried Sync. Problem STILL exists

3. Uninstalled and re-installed soocial
4. Tried Sync. Problem STILL exists

5. From www.soocial.com/connections, deleted the Outlook connection
6. From Outlook, Tried Sync. Problem STILL exists
7. Additionally, the connection now shows up as "unnamed device"! (see attached image)


Also, I do not see any log files under "C:\Program Files\Soocial". I only see exe and dlls and .manifest files.

I have sent email to support.
And yes, it did work for a while. It stopped working sometime around Aug 31, I think.
And no, I did not install any other Outlook plug-in since then.
(I might have un-installed the Plaxo Outlook plug-in though, I don't remember)

Microsoft Outlook sync problem

Hi, I am using soocial to sync contacts from :
- Outlook 2003
- gmail
- Windows Live

Gmail and Windows Live sync works great, but have a problem with Outlook.

On Windows, I choose "Soocial" --> "Open Status Window" --> "Sync Now"
The progress bar progresses from 0% to 100%

But NO SYNC happens.
Status says "Last synced: 3 days ago"

Can someone help?
Is there a way to turn on logging and view log files so I can help diagnose this problem?

Edited to add:
I should mention that Outlook Sync was working, until about a few days ago.
But now it no longer works.
