J-P Losier replied on August 11, 2009 15:18 to the problem "Windows Mobile IE on m.youversion.com says it's being redirected to mobile site." in LifeChurch.tv:
So if I start with a mobile browser, and specifically go to m.youversion.com, does it make sense to see a message saying that a desktop browser that I'm not using will also be redirected here? Here are the User Agent for the T-Mobile Dash and a few other Windows Mobile devices. If you're using that for the logic, maybe this will save your team some searching through your server logs. While they Say MSIE 6.0, they also say IEMobile.
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.12) T-Mobile Dash
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) 320x240; VZW; Motorola-Q9c; Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11) Sprint:MotoQ9c
These can be tested with the User Agent Switcher Extension for Firefox: http://chrispederick.com/work/user-ag...
If you're not using the User Agent to switch experiences, just check for a screen size of less than 640px, maybe?
My YouVersion login is JPLosier.
You can DM me on Twitter @jplosier or reply here if you need me to test anything. I have a screen capture if it would help. The top half is the YouVersion header with a search box. The bottom half is the yellow warning that I have been redirected, even though I haven't.

I don't think you understand. I'm using my phone. I can't install Chrome or Firefox on my phone. See, this is referring to the mobile version of YouVersion.
I'm also not using IE 6. I'm using the latest browser version available for my phone, which is IE Mobile, also known as Pocket IE.
There are phones out there other than the iPhone, and this is one of them. I'll gladly work with you to test this issue, but I would appreciate not being dismissed off-handedly. – J-P Losier, on August 10, 2009 14:01

Windows Mobile IE on m.youversion.com says it's being redirected to mobile site.windows mobile gets the message that YouVersion appears to think I'm running Internet Explorer 6, and have been redirected to the mobile site. I actually went to the mobile site. The message takes up most of the screen, and never goes away.-

Support mobile views better by removing the sidebar. It works on my mobile device (Windows Mobile, 320x240 screen) but the display (not the edit) is very narrow because the margins and sidebar take up a lot of the minimal real-estate.
Make a mobile CSS stylesheet that moved the sidebar links to the footer area, and don't worry about the live preview. Just being able to enter text is a great start.

Add a way to "exit" the application, and a quick-remember mode. Please add a way to exit the application, to free up resources for other applications. The "end call" doesn't do anything, there is no menu to select "exit' from, and the "home" button brings me home, but Task Manager shows Recite still running. i can stop the application from Task manager, freeing up about 5MB, but I'd rather it exit nicely and clean up after itself, or have a smaller memory footprint while inactive.
Since it takes a few seconds to load the full application, maybe making a "Quick Remember" link that gets the user to be able to record a new remembrance "on the go" and if it takes a second or two to do any analysis and indexing (if done at record time as opposed to all during the search process) and exit automatically. Maybe if during the end processing, it gave an option to press "Remember" to record another remembrance, or auto-closing in 3...2...1.
While a great technology preview, I think a few minor UI changes could make it very useful for everyday situations.
J-P Losier replied on January 26, 2009 21:41 to the problem ""Remove Programs" list is empty" in Microsoft Corporation:
I just found this: http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic....
Apparently, WM doesn't like it if you have more than 50 programs installed. I don't remember if I have that many, but it could be.
Now to figure out how to manually uninstall programs (or at least remove from the list, bringing it below the magical 50) so I can uninstall normally.

I have not looked in WMDC, but most of my apps are installed via CAB files Over-The-Air.
I'll call the operator's support line, and maybe I'll be surprised at the depth of their knowledge of Windows Mobile internal workings. Probably not, which is why I asked Microsoft. I take it there are no Windows Mobile people at Microsoft on GetSatisfaction? – J-P Losier, on January 23, 2009 17:21

"Remove Programs" list is emptyWindows Mobile 6.0 Standard: My list of installed programs (Start > Settings > Remove Programs) is completely empty. I have installed software, but (like a typical user) did not notice this until after I'd installed several programs. How can I fix this? I Prefer not to just "back up my PIM data, and reset", and am willing & able to to record & modify registry entries/ files if needed. Obviously, if some software put a corrupted (file/registry key) in, causing the parsing code to stop, I'd remove it, but I can't through the normal process. I did try to install software that apparently is only for touch-screen devices, but never advertised such, and gives an error (probably requiring an interface unavailable on WinMo Standard)
Please help. Thanks!

Actually, I did a search, and found http://www.slingcommunity.com/forum/t... that gives the registry hack to change the rotation for my Dash. I tried it, and it works, so I'm posting it so others can have self-help here and save you the trouble.
