A comment on the problem "After Quick add the newly added component isn't immediately selectable" in Balsamiq:
Hi,
Don't worry, it doesn't get me too frustrated since I have the workaround.
It seems to happen every time on a new mockup, so here's one:
(EDIT: ok, getsatisfaction doesn't want embedded XML in comments, but anyhow, the problem isn't mockup specific, it's the same no matter what's inside the mockup)
Now that I played with it I noticed that I can actually select the new
component by dragging a selection box around it and can move it after
that. If I then click outside the component and try to select it again
by clicking on it, it won't get selected. However, if I save the
mockup and then click on the component, it actually gets selected and
I can move it. Everything works OK for that component from there on,
but for any new components the same story repeats.
This is also Quick Add specific. If I drag a component from the UI
Library, everything works OK.
It's only that I think Quick Add is simply brilliant and tend to use
that despite the problem...
One more thing I noticed now that I used the UI Library. When using QA
the content of the component isn't automatically in edit mode. E.g. if
I drag a button from the UI library, the button text gets selected for
editing. This is not the case for QA, I'll have to do the double
double click on it to get to the text (or save and then a single
double click). – Jussi.rasinmaki@simosol.fi, on August 21, 2008 08:56

After Quick add the newly added component isn't immediately selectableWorkflow: / to get to the Quick add => type e.g. te to get the Text Area component => press enter => a new text area appears at the top left corner of the canvas => Problem 1. A single click with the mouse does not select the component so that I could move it, Problem 2. It takes two double clicks to get the component to the editing state, Problem 3. I still can't select the component
Workaround: save the mockup (Command+S) after inserting a component with Quick add => the component is selectable and can be moved.
To makes more difficult to debug... there have been rare cases where the above doesn't apply and everything works OK. But only so rare cases that I don't really know whether I did something differently.
