I waited two hours at the Apple Fifth Avenue NYC store for an Iphone 3g. When I finally got into the store I was told I was ineligible for an upgrade, even though I was an Iphone owner. I purchased as 16gig phone for $499.00. When i got home I called ATT and they verified that I was eligible for the upgrade cost of $299. I was directed to go back to the Apple Store to get my refund. The Apple Store personnel said it was an ATT issue. ATT says it is an Apple issue. back and forth three times. I feel like I'm on the Twilight Zone, caught between two worlds. They won't talk to each other and so far I'm out 200 bucks.

Similar thing happened to me. I checked my plan to be sure I was eligible. I was, but to get the phone I had to switch myself to the primary account holder. After I switched the AT&T rep told me I'd have to agree to an 11 month contract. So at the end of the iPhone line, they said that I wasn't eligible for the 199/299 pricing. So, apple was great, AT&T is backwards (they'd be making $231 on my plan instead of giving up the extra $200 to apple). Doesn't make sense.
