Ah actually I know what the issue is. Those URLs actually are designed to work with anything on the end of them:
http://www.last.fm/event/1053627+blah...
All we look at is the first number, the bit on the end is just to be more informative and for better search engine optimisation, so if they change it shouldn't matter.
The actual problem you're having is with the slash (/) in the URL. There's an annoying bug in our server software where a slash OR an encoded slash (%2F) in a URL might lead to a 404. We try to avoid this problem by encoding the slash twice (%252F) when we generate those URLs and I just tried the link on your homepage and this works fine.
What browser and OS are you using? There may be an encoding problem that's specific to your setup.
