I had this problem too until I added Twitter as a contact [specifically as a mobile number] and sent them a text. Works now.

I'm having the same issue. It sends the SMS but it never shows up on my twitter.

Perhaps something in there will be helpful.

I was having the same problem, so I added Twitter as a contact and put the 40404 in as the phone number and then it worked.

You don't need to have your phone device set to ON for you to post updates via sms. And some of the people I follow use BlackBerrys so I suspect that's not the problem.

Perhaps the post in this related thread can help.

You might also find the Twitterberry Mobile client worth a look. It works over the data network, so it doesn't need sms.

mine still doesn't work. i'm half ready to turn 'on' the messages and try to post to see if that's the problem...but that really doesn't make any sense.

I think I activated my phone because I got the auto reply messages from Twitter, and I was able to send the "off message, but I can't post from my phone. Do I need to turn send the "on" message in order to post? That doesn't really make sense, but I'm happy to try. Is it because my phone is a BlackBerry?
