Kai Andresen started following the question "Re-upload, update or replace pictures?" in Expono.
Kai Andresen asked a question in Expono on December 24, 2009 13:59:
How do I pay for an upgrade to somebody elses Expono account?I want to sponsor someone with an upgrade to their account, can I do that? How? Or do I have to log in as them to do that?
Kai Andresen replied on December 17, 2009 19:55 to the problem "problem with the upload" in Expono:
I have experienced this a couple of times too. When you see that the star wheel keeps turning, just press the button to "stop upload" and when the button changes text to "Resume upload" press it again. Keep an eye on it from time to time.
This seems to happen more often if the internet connection is week or busy.
An alternative could be to explore the pixelpipe uploader.

Add a "report spam" button? Filter reported spammers?http://www.expono.com/bbrij87 was the first spammer on expono that I noticed. So, will expono need to offer a "report spam" button, and to effectively filter reported users from the wall / explore pages until the complaint is found to be false?

Just gotta love your attitude guys! *thumb up*
I took a look among my own public photos, and here's a dozen photos that displays the issue:

Kai Andresen reported a problem in Expono on November 29, 2009 21:29:
Jpeg compression sometimes too heavyThe jpeg compression applied to images for the medium and large sizes is normally ok, but sometimes it's too harsh and ruins a good picture. Could you tweek the settings a tad in the right direction? Or allow user to request a slightly better representation?
Here's one example: http://www.expono.com/go/photo/209824...
I know I've seen it in a few of my own too, but this made me remember to post a request about it.

No! Well, that might be cool too, but that was not what I meant now. :o)
I was thinking about the page where my Albums are listed. There they are listed in order of creation, with the most recently created album listed first. I want to group some albums to list first, in a separate section on the top, and give that group a caption: "Possibly generally interesting photos", and then I want to have a separate group below the first one, with another caption: "Probably only interesting if you know me". Others will want to have more album groups, and other captions.
I'd also like to be able to order and reorder the albums within each group, but that's less important.
Was that clearer, you think?
Kai Andresen asked a question in Expono on November 29, 2009 14:00:
Does TBA stand for"To be announced"? Or can I already get the downloader somewhere?
Kai Andresen shared an idea in Expono on November 29, 2009 13:51:
Some rudimentary presentation/ordering of AlbumsNot all public albums are created equal. I have 400 images publicly viewable now, only a tiny fraction of which might be of any interest to people who doesn't know me. I want to separete my public albums into one of at least two categories, and give an order and presentation of each category. My first two categories would be "possibly interesting" and "probably not even slightly interesting unless you are, or know, me", others will have their own categories.
Kai Andresen replied on November 08, 2009 17:21 to the question "How can we improve editing/organizing on Expono?" in Expono:
I almost forgot: To the question of how to make more users aware of the batch-editing facilities. If you removed all editing from the presentation page of each photo, and provide a link which takes the user to the edit photos page with the current photo selected, might solve this. It also might annoy a lot of people, I wouldn't know.
Maybe a "tip of the moment box" with short introductions and link to a tutorial could get a prominent, albeit discrete, appeareance?
Kai Andresen replied on November 08, 2009 17:00 to the question "How can we improve editing/organizing on Expono?" in Expono:
Great, I hope many more join in here!
To the "prepare a collection to work with": remember that any single image is a one item stack. All operations valid for a stack are easily accessible for a single photo as well. This also means that I can do off hand work with single photos that I don't want to add to the bigger stack that I'm building as I pass by and notice something I want to fix before continuing to find more. Also, each album is already a stack on it's own, which I can work on like a stack, even without interfering with the "real" stack I am preparing.
So, that is already tree stacks, which is not so bad for a start. I remember some inconsistency in what operations where accessible while editing the stack and editing all the photos in an album, but I can't recall what that was, and I can't find it anymore. Maybe it was fixed, without me noticing that it became right? Maybe I just misunderstood something once?
So, possibly, only single photo editing seems and feels different from editing the photos in the stack or in an album. There are a lot of opportunities, but they are scattered all over a page geared towards presentation more than editing. Maybe a button to take me to the edit photos page for only that photo is a good start?
To the editing:
I don't know if a checkbox would benefit more people than it would annoy. On one hand it's more imediately recognized, which is a good thing. On the other hand, it's harder to hit and hence slower to work with. Maybe you could keep the current orange border on onClick, and add a checked/unchecked checkbox as an overlay?
Also, when entering the edit photos page, initially no photos are selected, and the text explains that if no photos are selected, then all photos are considered selected. That must confuse some. Just decide which it is. If all are going to be considered selected, which I think is a good default, then mark each as selected. The text now only need to state that you click an image to un-select it. Provide "unselect all", and "toggle selection" -buttons.
When applying an action to a collection of photos, and if some actions where not successfully applied to all photos, just list the photos and reasons in questions in the view. "Notice: some action(s) could not be performed on all images, these where: ... in a box below the receipt.

Kai Andresen replied on November 07, 2009 08:55 to the idea "Some other way of editing/organizing" in Expono:
Whether I am working causually, idly browsing and fixing a few things, or if I am consentrating on a single goal, like preparing a particular album, there are a number of annoyances.
I can search photos but I can't add all or single hits to the stack without visiting each wanted photos page. I can't select to expand OR limit the current search result by doing new searches. In All My Photos I can apply a single filter, but I want to combine filters, and I want to apply filters even on search results, and when watching the photos in a single album.
To summarize: I want to prepare a selection. Whether you call it a filtered view, a search or a stack, I don't care. I'm busy preparing a collection to work with. Any place I see a thumbnail or photo I wan't to be able to add/remove it from the stack(s).
Having prepared a collection I want to do something with it. Like edititing a stack, wich gives the richest set of opportunities now.
Kai Andresen replied on November 07, 2009 08:27 to the problem "The Honeymoon is definitely over..." in Expono:
I pretty much agree. I think the lack of a button to download an entire album or stack is really bad prioritising. Also that the uploader is a pain to work with. It's not as bad after I got done uploading my collection, but it still sucks. I usually use another browser to alleviate the problem somewhat.
I really hope these issues get higher on Exponos todo-list.
