I solved the problem by doing it the hard way:
I called an Apple Shop who didn't want to help me - they wanted me to by "Apple Care" for 49 Euros... - but I nagged until they told me the following.
Whilst booting press down the mouse. Voila: The DVD came out.
Then insert the 10.4 DVD and hold down the "c" whilst booting. The Mac starts from the DVD.
After that I re-installed the Tiger and imported everything from the previous installation since the old user was still on the HD.
Took me 3 days and three attempts with lotsa troubles (like iTunes not playing some 30 songs I bought in the iTunes Store...) and a LOT of cursing at myself thinking that Mac is different from Windows.
If I find a comp that has the right hardware for Linux I'll switch to LINUX! That is FREE and stabil and virus free and has no SHOP!
Anyway, thanks guys!

iMac frozen after upgrade from Tiger to Leopard - only shows a blue screen with the mouse pointer...how can I un-freeze it??After I upgraded my iMac from Mac OS 10.4 to Mac OS 10.5 it doesn't start properly anymore. It boots with the sound and the apple and then instead of going into the "desktop mode" only shows a blue screen and the mouse pointer.
How do I go back or otherwise boot the iMac so I can get to my data???
Is there a safe mode or something??
Help PLEASE!
