kakaw replied on November 25, 2009 23:34 to the problem "My Smart Playlists Keep Disappearing!" in Songbird:
I had this issue repeatedly over a period of several months. It has to do with a "corrupted profile." You have to start over with a new profile, import your playlists (assuming you remembered to back them up), and then deal with the resulting "ghost tracks" without messing up your playlists in the process. If there's a simple fix or preventative for this, I was unable to find it after repeated searches of the help files.
I am no longer using Songbird, and cannot recommend it to others until this issue is resolved.

kakaw reported a problem in Songbird on July 02, 2009 07:28:
watch folder errors; playlists disappearedI noticed that the new Watch Folder feature was only correctly importing about half the songs I download. The rest of them appeared with the .mp3 title as the song title, but no data. It seems to particularly have problems if Songbird is open while I'm downloading the file, although I'm not sure that's exclusively the case.
After reading up on it, I thought the best way to fix this would be to remove the songs from the Watch Folder, then replace them. I tested this by moving one track out of the Watch Folder and back in again. Voila! There it was. So I tried it again with the whole batch.
Not surprisingly, this resulted in duplicates in the Library, so I ran Exorcist to remove them. Null tracks and generic error messages kept appearing, and I quit and restarted Songbird several times. Several minutes later I still had almost all the duplicates (Exorcist didn't recognize them), and all my playlists had completely vanished.
I've got Songbird 1.2 on Ubuntu 8.10, and I am using Music Manager in a separate folder from the Watched folder.
Two questions:
1) What should I do about Watch Folders not working correctly? I'm not seeing any other issues like this reported; do I just have a buggy install?
2) Is there any way to retrieve my playlists? I've made a lot of changes since I last backed them up.

kakaw asked a question in Songbird on June 27, 2009 01:52:
How do I export playlists?I think I've done this before, but for the life of me I can't remember how -- can't find an option for it in the menus. I want to open a playlist from Songbird in my CD burning software, but I don't know where to find the playlist files. Am I overlooking something totally obvious here? I'm using Songbird 1.2 on Ubuntu.-

kakaw replied on June 10, 2009 04:51 to the question "importing playlists creates dupes in the library" in Songbird:
I'm having the problem described above, with the result that I effectively can't import my playlists. Here's the loop I'm stuck in:
1. Import playlists.
2. Notice Library is full of duplicates.
3. Run Exorcist to eliminate duplicates.
4. Examine playlists -- they're empty!
Go back to start...
I am importing the playlists I lost (along with the rest of my profile) during a recent upgrade to 1.0.0 (Ubuntu 8.10). So they are playlists from Songbird.
Since this bug is obviously not a high priority, can anyone recommend a simple workaround for reconstructing my playlists? There has to be an easier way than copying them from screenshots.

kakaw asked a question in Songbird on March 02, 2009 04:33:
How do I turn the delete songs confirmation back on?I turned off the pop-up confirmation for deleting songs. Now I realize that my right-click function is sometimes skipping directly to removing the song (grr!), instead of allowing me to choose to edit, etc. Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue, but I'd really like that little confirmation window to pop up again so I don't have songs disappearing on me. How do I switch it back on?
