This is not a solution.
Neither is it great news.
Why not work on a player/plugin that can show X3D on the other platforms or even cross-platform?
Being the first to offer such a player would put Vivaty in a much stronger position, than to only come up with a simple workaround. Flash is not for 3D content.
Why not help in the efforts to bring X3D as a standard to the browsers and work on built-in X3D support? See W3C and Web3D efforts...

checked again: http://community.mediamachines.com is STILL down for me.
(as are other mediamachines sites. only http://mediamachines.com is rightly redirected to vivaty.com)
Loads of temporary issues here, hm?

kalesco asked a question in Vivaty on June 02, 2008 12:55:
No anchor functionality in Player anymore? In Flux there used to be anchors to open URLs or jump to certain viewpoints. In our scenes this was an important option - now the anchors don't work anymore! We tried the same scenes with Cortona and everything was fine.
Now we have to use an old version of Flux instead of the newer Vivaty - and frankly, this sucks ;)
Is there a chance that anchors will work with URLs, viewpoints and other scenes again?
A comment on the question "Vivaty Player (browser plugin) for Mac OS X?!" in Vivaty:
Hi! Thanks for getting back to me about the issue! I appreciate your effort and as long as it is on the roadmap, I am satisfied. As there is no good plugin for Macs at the moment I am really looking forward to seeing Vivaty take this chance ;) – kalesco, on June 02, 2008 10:57

A comment on the question "Vivaty Player (browser plugin) for Mac OS X?!" in Vivaty:
Hi, "at some point" is not really a satisfying answer. Neither is the workaround with bootcamp. As for VMs: Parallels doesn't have access to higher graphics functions and won't allow the x3d rendering. At least that was my experience with Flux.
Even so, it is not a solution for my problem, as I really need the player/plugin to work natively under Mac OS X.
Is this on the a roadmap?
