I was advised to change to the "Old Version" of gmail and that has worked for me.

I also had the same problem and someone told me to use the "older version" of gmail and that solved my problem. When I go back to the "new version" I have the problem again.

Having trouble typing in gmail
After typing several sentences in an e-mail and I want to go back and insert a letter, instead of inserting a letter it types right over everything I have previously typed. What is happening? It doesn't do this all the time.
