Karl replied on July 23, 2009 00:36 to the question "Are calendars reorder-able?" in Exploding Orange:
G'day Jack,
Thanks for the question.
Events are laid out in strict date ordering. There was a time when iCalViewer used the ordering of the calendars in the iCal side bar, but this would create unsightly jumps in the layout.
As an example, imagine you have a bunch of events that start 1 minute apart. iCalViewer will lay them out like a staircase until there is space below to add an event. What happens if you add calendar sorting is that some events get placed on top of the staircase because a later calendar has an earlier event. When you look at it, you ask, 'why has that event been put there?' So the pattern looks bad and unreasonable. Also, it's harder to compare when events start because you can't 'see' the layout logic.
Please note that I know that calendar ordering is something people want, and will be providing it in a later version.
I hope this answers your question. Do tell me if you aren't 'satisfied' or have any other comments.
Regards,
Karl
