We went thru two new GE microwaves (One we bought and one the GE replaced it with. Both made so much mechanical noise that we couldn't hold a conversation when they were runnihg. The we bough a new LG. The turntable in it wouldn't turn. hen, we found a basic whirlpool over the range microwave and it works fine and is very guiet. You have to hang in there Noybi, but it is possible to find something that works.

So it isn't just us. We had a GE microwave for 9 years that worked great until it kept running with the door open. So we bought a new GE, but the face of the framing was peeling off. We returned it for the same 1.6 cf model JES1651 but it stopped heating food after a few weeks. I guess we are off to research other brands too!

When people come into walmart to "exchange" something and they have the receipt, they are usually given the money so they can go get another one and not have to hassel with coming back to the customer service desk. Perhaps the cashier was not clear that you wanted an EVEN EXCHANGE. If that's the case, you should have made that clear or talked to a mgr if she wasn't "capable" or "didn't want to be bothered". Either way I see this as your inability to effectively communicate what you wanted.
By the way...isn't GE doing business with Iran? They say that they're only fulfilling old contracts. That's lawyer talk for yes, we're still doing business in Iran. They're trying to say that they're not going to take up any new contracts, but lawyers know how to finesse that. The fact of the matter is they are defying U.S. sanctions by going around with a loophole, doing business with their foreign subsidiaries in countries like Syria and Iran.
What really disturbs me about Syria is that we know that 90 percent of the foreign fighters who have come through the Syrian border, who have showed up in Iraq to detonate suicide bombs, IEDs, killing and maiming our troops.
I don't buy anything GE anymore.

We bought a GE 1.1cf Ge Microwave, it worked great for the first 4 weeks, and then just stopped, not extra noise, then we replace it thinking it must have been a flute the 2nd one only worked when it wanted to , we will be taking that back on Saturday and not buying another one we will buy another brand this time

I don't know what her problem was, but she did not want to be bothered by us, she just kept saying that I will refund your money and you can be on your merry way, besides that we have been using microwave for more than 30 years and most held up for 5 to 10 years, but since we bought this GE model we have had 2 within 5 weeks, each failed, so that is also a major problem.

kartvines asked a question in Wal-Mart on July 23, 2008 12:45:
GE microwaves and WalmartAnyway about a month ago we bought a GE 1.1cf Microwave it worked only for 5 weeks, we took it back to walmart and they refunded the purchase price which was not enough to replace the microwave being the price went up at their store. so we went ahead and bought the exact same make and model thinking it was just a flute, but the 2nd microwave filed within one day. We will be returning it to Walmart, this time we will buy a replacement of a different make.
so our problem is two fold, first the GE microwave, having 2 failures in less than 6 weeks, and 2nd that Walmart refunded the money instead of allowing us a replacement at the same price
