You've welcome to visit Spaceport Alpha. We have enough lag that even SL client users sometimes appear as clouds, but in our sim we tend to use that as a teaching tool, and introduce topics such as Clouds of Magellan.... (sorry ;-)

Group & Avatar profile tools

After using the app for a few weeks, I've got more ideas ;-) It would be wonderful to be able to access group profiles, esp. to send group notices (for those who have that ability in the first place). In fact, being able to see avatar profiles would be cool, too, but not as critical for me.

Just keep me around, and you guys won't have to worry about job security! Featuritis is my speciality....

Need to accept TP as well as send one

I used Sparkle to attend a meeting yesterday, which was really useful since my computer's connection was acting up. However, I was not able to see a teleport someone sent me, so if I want to attend a meeting in future, I'll have to login with a 3D client, and go to the meeting place so I can use the "last location" login with Sparkle. I hope receiving and accepting TPs will be in the next version, since that's a pretty important function.

Is Sparkle just going to be for iPhone, or will you be porting it to other portable devices, like netbooks. I just saw a demo here of a small Linux-based netbook Wistron prototyped, due out later this year, that might be perfect for running Sparkle.

The SciLands by-laws indicate that only sim owners can be full members of SciLands with a Senator. (Honorary Senators, who don't have to be island-owners, do not have a vote.) There has sometimes been discussion about changing that requirement, but I don't think it's been done yet, if it ever will be. The rationale was that sim owners are definitely "stakeholders" while tenants or renters might not have the same committment to the integrity of the region/organization.

Friend List Issues

Picking up from the comment under "Review Posted". You're right about the alphabetized friends -- but when I first started using Sparkle they were NOT alphebetized. This was the case the first two or three times I logged in. I wonder if it's something to do with the length of my friends list? Last time I logged in I caught it in the act of sorting the list. Maybe there's a cashing issue involved? Also, at least once the list only loaded partially, and when I tried to select one name, I got a screen for a different friend. I relogged and the list loaded properly, so maybe it's a Second Life issue rather than anything in Sparkle.

Now that my main avatar is logging in successfully, I'm really happy with Sparkle. I just reviewed it in my blog at http://newmediaonthego.com I would like to have my friends list alphabetized, though. With over 200 friends, finding one in the random list can be a challenge.

thanks, I have been able to login with my main account now. Maybe the connection or maybe SL being slow. Anyway, it's a great app and will be a tremendous help to keep in touch with SL while on the move.

Now my alt can't login either. The exact error message is "Name lookup failed"
