I too have just deleted Xmarks from my computer for the reasons stated: no ability to change sych schedule, no ability to stop it once it starts, synching when nothing has changed, and the way it completely slows my computer.
Will investigate Dropbox.-

Does deleting Xmarks delete all my bookmarks?Xmarks' frequent syncing slows my computer horribly. Apparently, from what i read (altho i haven't slogged thru the 189 pages of questions), there is no way to STOP a sync in progress, nor schedule a time for it. I really dislike Xmarks. As I only use one computer, I do not need this service.
I already tried unchecking "Enable Automatic synchonization," and "Sync on shutdown" on the Xmarks tools, which did not help any. It is not listed under Services or StartUp on the SysConfig menu.
I'm running Firefox 3.5.3 on an HP Pavilion dv5-1113, with Vista.
My question is, if i delete Xmarks from my computer, WILL I LOSE ALL MY BOOKMARKS? If i will lose all my bookmarks, i'll put up with this horrible program, but if my bookmarks will stay in place, out Xmarks goes.
Please help! Thank you.

I have tried exactly what you said, but Foxmarks Favorites synchronizer does not appear in the Startup Tab or the Tools tab of my SysConfig window. Help! I do NOT want this program to run all the time -- it kills the response time on my computer. -
